SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

When(if) one of the better waitlisted flights opens up will it all work out time wise to cancel the booked flight and take the cleared WL?
Sorry Andy I missed the bit about having a conf flt - if you have conf flt you can add multiple WL to it and then as they clear you can just adjust your booking. If you create seperate WL to your existing booking them most times original booking will need to be cancelled and cleared WL then conf and ticketed. If you get the right KF Agent they can sub WL for original booking but most don't know how to do this and will need to cancel original.

So are you saying I should book the conf flight and then call and have them add on the preferred flight waitlists instead of waitlisting (online) all the preferred flights and then booking the "worst case" but confirmed? Need to keep the 15% discount.

If it matters at all the "worst case" is LHR-SIN-BNE whereas the best case is ZRH-SIN-BNE so not sure if the different departure point changes anything...

Substituting dep is possible but very unusual on one booking ref - personally I would not try it - I would conf LHR-SIN-BNE and if ZRH opens up just cancel LHR and pay the USD30/pax to cancel - it could be a lot easier for you - time and effort does not come free - but then again you need suff pts to do this.

Yup will do thanks again for the help. Re suff points - that's why I figure I'm better to WL the flights first and then book the confirmed which will actually take the points.

In the interests of truthful and accurate posting let me rephrase that for you JT:

Data Point 1: TP currently serving 1995 CH.
Data Point 2: As AFF Mod I felt my duty to carefully sample and assess 1 glass CH in TPR- or more.
Data Point 3: After intense testing CH in TPR again my duty to transfer to SKL with full glass CH to compare to PH Rare
Data Point 4: I have sidled up to bar in SKL F and Muhammed fully understands my roles and responsibilities as AFF Mod to compare CH 1995 to PH Rare 2002 glass by glass til I can form a definitive opinion I can then convey to fellow AFFers - this could take a while!
Well, accurate up to and including DP 3. And DP 2 included eliminating any variances that may have occurred by time of day. So tests undertaken at 1am, 10am and 8pm.

At the risk of being labelled blasphemous I need to head to China again early Dec - have no dates as yet so cannot even check SQ flts - but I have been checking JD (Beijing Capital Airlines) MEL-TAO (Qingdao) - ~A$1,200 in J - most will think lunacy if SQ F on offer for that or less but I am still contemplating. I guess there won't be Krug or Dom or indeed CH or PH in TPR - but it might be fun.

spacebar

That's not return is it??

Nope ~A$1,200 over / ~A$1,100 ret - check it on Hainan Airlines site - sorry for OT posting but I am torn between 2 loves - the love of everything SQ and the love of trying new airlines. And before anybody jumps and tries to quote MH or whatever as cheaper I am only even contemplating this as they are direct flts MEL to China - if I ever transit en route it will be with SQ.

Well that was about as underwhelming as it could get. Just checked in for my F/R flight SYD-xSIN-CDG and I might as well have been flying economy.

Now I wasn't expecting rose petals and heavenly choirs, but still:

"Here is your boarding pass, express pass and immigration card".

I asked if there was an invitation to TPR: "No, it is printed on your boarding pass. Just go to the lounge in SIN and they will let you in".

"Are you sure"? I ask in my best CE impression. "Yes, we don't have them here" was the reply.

I was then asked if I had been to the lounge in SYD before and when I said no: "It's opposite gate 51".

End of conversation. Even JQ wish me a pleasant flight.

A bit late to the party... but this is exactly what happened to us on our flight to SIN too the other day. Even worse that we've to wait in "First" class (they didn't even display suite sign) line about 3-4 person longer than business class line. None of the staff offered us to get into business line first.

Invitation weren't given out at check in gate, but the lady at SKL lounge gave us the invitation without any delay and told us that the check in counter keep rejecting to give suite/first class passenger their TPR invite.

We know how horrible Sydney ground staff is when we compare it to Haneda ground staff yesterday. They were letting business passenger do check in at First Class counter, but when they saw us coming through the red carpet, they politely ask the business class passenger to step aside and continue check in at business class line at no delay. Of course, TPR invites were given out at no delay too!

Best thank to CE for letting us know how to maximise our Suite/First journey!

By the way, I'm a Dom man more than Krug =)

Already on our list CE! From amazing staff back to Sydney and area of improvements needed in Sydney.
Excellent - always good to give positive feedback as well as negative feedback.

SQ take feedback very seriously - positive feedback about Crew Members always gets through to them - it is a very big pat on the back when a customer takes the time to acknowledge crew - crew really appreciate it also.

SQ also take negative feedback extremely seriously as evidenced by the refund of 78,625 KF pts back into my KF account June 2015 when Saver Awards were mistakenly not loaded into system and I booked Standard Award as I needed to return home immediately only to find 2 empty F cabins PEK-SIN and SIN-MEL.

They actually admitted they didn't load saver levels? That's amazing!

Last year I received 10,000 miles and a lovely delivered hamper when my Y IFE did not function properly. I wrote them a nice email explaining and received a nice response. A millennium ahead of Lufthansa who were miserable about the whole thing and took months to respond. What are the chances of faulty IFE on (the 2nd in LH Y+) on consecutive flights?

On my last flight, one of the Leading Stewardesses told me that the amount of positive feedback a crew member receives is a key part of being a contender for promotion.
