SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

So you mean 1 goes in business and 1 goes in economy?

We're happy to all go economy, save the points for a big trip to Europe/Canada in 2018.

How would I book multi city with points? Possible online?

BTC Recommendation for a steak? Options I've got are:

- Wagyu sirloin
- US Grilled Beef Fillet
- Six ounce Ribeye
- Eight ounce ribeye

Have got a 5hr dinner stopover in TPR prior to this F Flight on the way home - odds of lobster and satay being consumed there are very high, so figured would try something different I've not had on a flight before.

Just bear in mind that you're probably not going to get an option on how it's cooked. (and from reading somewhere about steak on planes it's likely to be on the down-side of medium)

Hrmmm.. good point. Down side of medium? Is that on the rare side, or the more well done side? I'm not familiar with that term 'down-side' when it comes to steak :)

I rarely BTC on SQ but I always do when riding 802 SIN-PEK dep 08:30 - they serve 'Brunch' on this flt which is basically bfast - after brekky in TPR last thing I want is more eggs - I usually select US Tenderloin - on flt last Sat LSS inquired as to how I would like steak cooked - Medium Rare pls - ok we will do our best but is not always perfect as steak already blanched pre loading - it came as close to Medium Rare as possible and was excellent for aircraft food. It is offered and can be achieved with a bit of luck.

Was going to originally say on the 'Trump side' of medium, towards the shoe-leather look...

Thanks as always CE. You've convinced me to go the US Tenderloin.

And petecr - Trump-side is a perfect measure! Going to keep that one for use in describing mrs tizey's next attempt at steak!

I had the wagyu sirloin yesterday exSIN. Sirloin was cooked to medium, so it's not bad. But the beef was served with oriental/Japanese style vegetables like shiitake mushroom, without any sauce. Some sauce would have helped to bring the dish together.

had the satay and lobster with egg noodles at the TPR. Both were excellent!

Bad news everyone

Called this morning to change my ticket beyond 12 months of the original booking date and no can do.

The clause of 12 months from the first ticketed date is only for when you have actually already flown that leg. To go beyond 12 months of booking without flying requires reissuing which means pay the difference in points (along with a refund in taxes). the guy I spoke with referred to his supervisor to try and push just 3 days beyond the 12 months, but couldn't.

Am going to have to cancel my suite booking- devastated!!

Is there no way to earn the necessary additional points in time? I can't remember where you were flying...

It's also possible another call might yield different results.

unlikely to earn enough points as I'll need to confirm the dates in about month: CDG - MEL although can prob leave from anywhere in Europe

might try the HUACA, but I'm not confident

this seems supported by a comment on the pointhacks website where someone posted the call centre advised of a USD20 fee to have a ticket extended beyond the one year validity. USD20 is the fee for reissues? And a reissue would trigger a reprice. That comment was posted back on 2 March.

Interesting to see if another call can produce better results.

yup, forgot to add the additional USD $20 fee. That got lost when he told me I could purchase the additional points for USD $2000!

Sorry I meant if you can't push it out, why not go a few days earlier :)

The R trip is the return trip, in case this happened as I'll have enough points under the new regime to convert to J :-( I only just scraped through with enough points

Have thought about going a month earlier and all would be good flight wise, but that kind of misses the point about going for her b'day. Never mind, hopefully there will be other R opportunities!
