SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

think i probably missed in the rush but what happens to waitlisted flights. if they clear are they priced at the new rate or the rate when put on WL?

yup, forgot to add the additional USD $20 fee.

I just tried and got the same answer.

I'm still not 100% giving up, because I've definitely moved a ticket forward without a $20 fee before.

But my guess is that the odds are not great.

Bad news everyone

I feel like a bit of a heel for stating this, but it's not bad news for everyone. As much as I feel for you guys (and I don't fully believe it just yet anyway, HUACA and again and again may work eventually), but if it is true, it may mean lots of cancellations and better availability for those of us who decided not to go for it.

Ummmm, thanks for that. Please read my intro as 'everyone, I have bad news' not 'bad news for everyone'.

I wouldn't hold out too much hope for lots of cancellations helping the plans of those who decided not to go for it, yup: I reckon there'll be a few, but they'll all be for Feb / early March next year when I think many didn't want to travel?

I called again yesterday evening, same result.

Perhaps your sister would be very happy to see you no matter that you are a bit early. Tell her that at this age, Bdays are supposed to last all month anyway. :)

ha, thanks, that's what my husband said!! It's on this list as an option fortunately we have a couple of weeks to decide
:-)

Past one year from the initial ticketing date.

different scenario then? Ticket validity is one year past the date of the first flight. Which is different from the initial ticketing date. Reports above indicate pushing out the validity of the ticket over one year = fee for reissue. Not a problem unless you have situations where prices/mileage change.

No, it's not a different scenario. Here PDog is talking about pushing his or her flight out to a date which is within the "one year from the date of the first flight" validity period, but more than a year after the date on which it was ticketed.

Both agent I have spoken to have said there is essentially no such thing as ticket validity on a one way, no stop over ticket (which both of mine were). It only comes into play when there's a second flight - that can be moved to a date up to 12 months after the first flight.

I think the $20 reissue fee is the nicer version of the $30 cancelation fee. It does have the advantage of not needing to wait for the points to be refunded back into your account to re book.

.

Just to be clear does that include say MEL_SIN_LHR (ie 2 leg one way non-stopover flight) or do you mean only say MEL-SIN (ie one leg flights) ?

from what i read and what the agent told me when i booked, as long as your 1st leg (MEL-SIN) is completed, then you can change the 2nd leg (SIN - LHR) till another year..

yes, I meant MEL-SIN-LHR, as that's exactly what my flight is, but I see annielee has had a different experience. Interesting, because wouldn't you be checked in all the way through? And I suspect that already being checked in may limit the ability to move the flight?
