SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Interesting view MEL. Have you flown JAL J? Have read a favourable review of a 767 with the sky suite, so I feel like it will be OK to sleep on (unlikely to sleep on EK leg I would have thought).

Re Lounge Access - how would it work with a mixed itinerary? Any chance of the EK Lounge being like the TPR - provided you've got a boarding pass from a flight that day, you're OK to access the lounge?

Your onward flight in business class will give you, at minimum, access to JL's lounge offering which is the SATS lounge: https://www.oneworld.com/ffp/lounge-access/-/loungeaccess/SIN/-1 OW lounges seem to have closed by the time you get there. Can't answer on using the EK inbound pass.

I have flown JL J, everything was perfectly fine - good food, good service. The sky suites have had very positive reviews.

MEL-SIN and SIN-TYO are short, and unless you want to arrive in Tokyo totally exhausted you'll want to sleep on at least one of those already short sectors.

I think the two legs are just about perfect for enjoying F without wasting time sleeping... I just break them up with a night at the Changi Crowne Plaza so I can get some real sleep in between.

I'd go for the EK F/JL J if you see availability and save the SQ. That's not based on a product vs product though if that's what you are looking for.

Thanks for input. Wanted to sanity check it with those who understand the value of points.... I mentioned it to Mrs tizey.. 'thats the one with the shower? Sold!'

Currently waiting for QFF callback service to book it.

Super pleased with the cabin crew on our cough-SIN and SIN-PER flights on Sunday. Our first ever international J experience.

They were espeially great with out little girl, and were even able to free up space for her to sleep on 11D for about three hours on the first leg.
Made it a very comfortable journey for us.

Must give credit to the passenger in 11E who agreed to move also. No obligation to do so, but we appreciated it.

Hey how are 2 of my sisters travelling - 2 of them 1st time pax in any F cabin and they are only 2 pax in R on 807 PEK-SIN Sunday - they are still raving about it!

Our Suites run is getting close now. We were upgraded in Crowne Plaza tonight in Changi and the room is lovely.
It has been a while as the A380 is not running to LAX.
First class on the 777 is still really good.

How's the renovation noise?

Wow. The pain and frustration of trying to book JAL awards via QFF Call Centre. Could see wide open availability on JAL website and ba.com on the flight I was chasing... so I was very very confident it could be booked, but I knew there was problems with them searching JAL award availability, but wow. Even when pushed, got nothing... and tried 3 times to HUACA. 'No sir, not a single JAL award is open for 2017 on any leg.. I can't see anything'. Spoke to 3 Qantas Agents, all the same thing. Spoke to AA as a sanity check - they could see availability right away, so I knew it was there.

Called QFF back a 4th time - flights booked and ticketed in about 4 minutes. Guy knew what he was doing, and nailed it. So the message is - dont take no for an answer straight up.

Mrs tizey was sad to not be visiting TPR once again, but excited about the shower and flash of EK F.

Can always purchase Amex points if you are close to the needed amount but not quite there.

has anyone managed to get their hands on a spare 70th anniversary female bear? got a male one a fortnight ago, and looking to add to the collection.

cheers

Yes it is a common issue with booking JAL flights through QFF. It is a known problem but still many agents don't seem to know about it. Can't imagine how many people miss out on flights because of it.
