SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Don't give up bulkhead/bassinet/exit row unless something in it for me. :p
Yes Johnny we are all aware of your 'only child' tendencies! Give it time - wifey will beat you into submission.
Let us know how your legs go down angling down the cubby hole!
Had J on 77W / 380 x 2 / 77N last week - I had no problem with foot wells - and F is bigger. I am assuming you won't be fighting for SQ cabin space in future RF?

Suites only :) I don't go out of my way to criticise the SQ product, but I found the 777 J bed seriously uncomfortable and in that case not because I have the 'fuller figure'.

I flew SIN-MEL on 77N in J Sun nt - my 1st J flt this bird - it has the new Diamond J seats - seat is fantastic for sitting - much much better than Diamond seats on 380 or 77W - first thing you notice is seat just does not feel so wide - foot well looks really small compared to 380 but bed was fantastic - I slept like a baby and noticed no foot restriction at all.

That is the funniest T shirt I have seen for a long time! I cannot believe you make it and wear it with pride!!!!

Just wondering whether the SIA girl on the T shirt is the same girl next to you?! Looks similar!
You cannot believe I made it kam? Why so? You cannot believe I wear it with pride kam? Why so?

Let me give you guys a lttle tip - do you know how long it has been since I received less that spectacular service on ALL SQ flts I undertake? Like forever! And even more so since these T-shirts have become the top part of my standard BYO PJs.

The image is actually on rear of T-shirt - the pic I had taken with Ivy the auditor she asked would I turn T-shirt around to get image on front - she wanted to use it in some internal SQ social media platform they have. I can hear plenty saying if you are a SQ R / F or J pax you should not need to wear such attire to get stellar service - I agree wholeheartedly - BUT - their PJs are too hot to wear so I always BYO - adding this image elevates the service level I receive from stellar to unbelievably spectacular. We all run our own races.

The girl in the pic is not Ivy who appeared in picture - it is C****** who was a real live SQ Taiwanese crew member - before joining SQ she was within a bees knee of signing a contract as a full time singer / entertainer - apparently extremely talented with fabulous voice. But her dream was to travel the world which she automatically did in the SQ ranks. She regularly featured at SQ promotions / launches etc - I guess you can see why - she is now retired and living back in Taipei - married and with 2 beautiful little daughters - apparently happiest she has ever been (latest info supplied by some of her close friends still crewing SQ flts and who always come grab me when they see her image).

Back to the SQ Auditors - SQ have an onboard audit team of approx 30 members ongoing - they are selected from IFS level and invited to join Audit team for 2 to 3 year period - many do not take up the offer as it consists approx 50% in air auditing crew performance and about 50% on ground writing reports / meeting / briefing senior management. Audit positions are not permanent and upon expiration of term auditors melt back into IFS ranks - rarely do they get a second gig - and yes it does enhance their CVs going forward. In hundreds of SQ flts I never knew they existed and then in 2 successive ret flts ex PVG then PEK 24 days apart I encounter one on each flt - go figure.

CE - that Audit team sounds interesting. But do I understand correctly they come from the in flight team, and are then auditing their colleagues - fellow crew members - and then go back amongst them? Do they pose as pax, or continue working as FAs while observing and reporting on, their in-flight colleagues? Do they speak to pax on the flights being audited?

No doubt their fellow crew members don't see what they write, but if my interp is correct, it sounds an odd arrangement both from the auditor side and those being audited. Not criticising, and I guess quality assurance in one way or another is good, but can you imagine that arrangement in any other workplace? The person working beside you is actively reporting to management on your performance?

They are fully uniformed entirety of flt - their role on board is as much coaching as anything - you consistently see them talking with crew members. I don't think they have all that much interaction with pax - the first auditor I came across I asked crew if he had time to spend with me to chat - the second was Ivy and she saw my PJs and came and asked could she have a photo taken with me - but to please turn top around first. I then spent about 30mins with her asking all the Qs I could think of - absolutely more than happy to answer any Q and no time limit.

I see no problem with this process at all - it is transparent - crew know they are there - TBH I saw zero change in crews actions / demeanour - they understand what it is all about.

In the wild bears traditionally live for approx 20 to 30yrs - but given the sheltered lives SQ bears receive I would suggest they might experience extended life spans - but I am expert in this area. ;)

haha helpful. Given we're flying in August I was hoping they might still be available onboard :p
