SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Two days ago Mrscove snapped something in her knee and has been reduced to crutches. Now that was a memorable birthday evening for her. Yesterday we tested the medical system in London and it worked very well. We are flying home today and it is such a shame she doesn't drink alcohol. Naturally I can help make up the difference.

Hope she gets better soon

Enjoy the Suites ride home (I presume), am sure you will be well looked after

It was raining so we were trying to get into a taxi in the wet. It did not go well. Today I have assistance organized so it should be ok and SQ call was handled really well by them.

We are trying 1F and 2F on the 777 today and terminal 2 is a very long terminal at Heathrow.

The golf cart in London Heathrow Terminal 2 was much appreciated as the distance is about 2 Kim's and Mrscove is improving pain wise but still hobbling along.
We came off the 777-300ER and a wheelchair was provided to get to TPR so all good.

Not flying today but can sympathise. Had a knee operation on Friday so hobbling around this weekend.

3 story house doesn't help

Maybe I should jump on a Suites to SIN and dive into the krug

i hope you guys have a good trip home

Pls pass on our thoughts cove - and tell Mrs cove that things could be a lot worse - she could have been travelling on KA ex HKG - those tarmac level deps via bus gates have to be experienced to be believed!

The Krug and vodka with caviar worked well for me and I slept really well after the French red. Thanks for the thoughts on Mrscove. I am wondering if she will be wanting to sleep upstairs or use an easier to get to bedroom.

Hope it is nothing serious!

Mrscove has some pain killers and that has helped so she is walking short distances with a crutch. I think we will know more this week.

(OT but I have to defend Dragonair here!)... avoid the A320s and this shouldn't be a problem :) In dozens of KA flights I've never had anything but a gate in the main terminal... unlike QFi in MEL where we boarded via bus and stairs at the cargo facility.

I suspect a MRI is beckoning...give her my regards!

That will teach me... I took her out for her birthday so we did a matinee show and followed it up with dinner at Rules in London. Too much excitement!

Im doing MEL-SIN-PVG in F on Friday (SQ218 777-300 onto SQ830 A380) with my partner. First time SQ F. Any tips from the experts? I've already selecred the middle two seats for each flight.

Planning to sleep on the first overnight flight as much as possible, then duty free shopping, breakfast and shower in TPR and then eating, drinking and merriment on the second flight.

How much duty free spirits can you take into China?

smit - 2C/D then 3C/D? You will not require too many tips - just go with the flow. Ask at check in for TPR invitation if they don't offer it to you - they are fabulous souvenirs - if they don't have at check in desk ask at lounge - if not there they can certainly arrange for you at entrance to TPR.

Don't forget your Changi $$s - go straight to the counter as soon as you arrive as that will be quietest time to collect. BYO PJs as the SQ sleeper suits are just too hot to sleep in - you will get PJs and amenity kit on MEL-SIN but neither on SIN-PVG.

I am not aware if there is an actual limit on alcohol into China - how much do you want to take in? Duty free on arrival in PVG about same price as SIM IIRC - little difference if any.

Most of all enjoy the experience.

1.5 litres of spirits per person... although in reality I don't think they really care if you have 2x 1 litre bottles (which is what I normally buy).

Alcohol is cheap in China even at clubs and bars. Probably about one half to one third the price we would pay here in Australia. I mainly buy duty free to take to take as a gift to a house party.

Thank you! Yep Row 2CD and then 3CD selected.
Im asking about duty free more to then bring back home because we're traveling home on CX via HKG. My partner is a big fan of Hendricks Gin and we've found SIN to be the best prices. Ideally we'd like to get 2 x 1 L each. We are also taking 2 x bottles of wine from home to give to our hosts in PVG - does wine count towards allowance?
I thought the SIN DF $$ expired already? Where do I collect them and how much do I get?

Any tips for breakfast oin TPR? We have a 3.5 hour layover.

I assume the SK F lounge in MEL is not worth getting there early for? The flight leaves MEL at 00:05 so planning to have dinner at home, double check packing, watch some TV then arrive at the airport aboout 22:00.

smit bit hard to give directions cause I don't know what Gate you are arriving - just go straight to Info counter and ask where to collect your Changi $$s - they will give you specific directions. You are eligible for 2 x $20 vouchers - punched to expire Mar 2016 - 1 x general voucher redeemable virtually any store in SIN and 1 x $20 voucher redeemable only at cosmetics / perfume and alcohol / tobacco stores only.

Yes wine will count into China but honestly I have never ever been checked - but mostly I only take 2 x 1ltr Baileys into China and nothing else.

Yes nothing special about MEL SQ F - they will have Poet on offer and same food basically in F and J lounges - but by all means eat dinner at hoe first - 1 hr in SQ F will be plenty time to spend there.

Go make your own choice on breakfast - we all have differing tastes.
