SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

If using Prioritypass in Changi the Dnata Lounge offers showers and free grog.

Thanks. Great tip. Changi is indeed where we need the lounge. Brother in law will be happy.
I've also just realised, I might not even be VA gold by then.

I'm sure I read somewhere recently that to qualify for Changi $ it has to be a return ticketed flight? This prevents people cashing in twice?

I read that as well.
The brother in law and his wife will be fine as they're buy a return cash fare, in my case. On the awards we could demonstrate a return journey over 3 bookings, but we don't expect to qualify because some of the flights aren't ticketed by SQ.

No this is not correct - you still can get your mits on the Changi $ Voucher if you have 2 X o/w tix - it does not need to be 1 X ret tix. See Post #103 here.

New rules from 1 April. Return journeys and must be in a single e-ticket. I'll have 3 e-tickets, two of them issued by the wrong airline (VA). I'm not even sure if the brother in law will qualify with his cash fare due to the thing about being in transit in both directions. We have a SIN stopover in one direction. But can only ask.

New rules here -we didn't qualify as we did LHR-SIN-SYD in one direction only

Medhead - just for clarity - pax must be on a return itinerary, but this can be across two tickets. Only one transit needs to be less than 24 hours, the other can be a full stopover.

Rules here: http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/promotions/transit-promotion/

  • Passengers must have at least 1 of their transit duration in Changi Airport to be within 24 hours. This is calculated from the Scheduled Time of Arrival (STA) of the arriving flight to Changi Airport to the Scheduled Time of Departure (STD) of the connecting departure flight out of Changi Airport.
  • Passengers whose transit (through Singapore) itinerary was issued over two or more separate e-tickets must present all e-tickets to the counter staff. Passengers without all the necessary documents will not be entertained.

I have 4 x A380 F sectors coming up, so it doesn't sound as if I am in any suites :( Is that just because I picked the wrong days to fly?

ninja, here's my flights:

SYD - SIN SQ232
SIN - LHR SQ306

ZRH - SIN SQ345
SIN - SYD SQ 221

SQ232 is a380 = Suites
SQ306 is 777 = F

SQ345 is a380 = suites
SQ221 is a380 = suites

I just picked a random date next week, and looks like 3 out of 4 is suites. What dates are you flying on if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks for the answers. The bkg shows all A380s and for some reason I thought it was the 777 that was suites.

My Birthday this year starts with brekky in OSL and dinner in Bergen. :)

I thought suites were exclusively on SQ's A380's, so you should have a suite on all 4 sectors

Then I guess you're suite'ing it up the whole trip. Have fun!

What are the ins and outs of wait listing awards? Currently looking at 4 Y awards ADL-SIN at the saver level. Waitlist is option for the preferred travel day, but 4 awards are available on the following day.
Any tips on how to deal with this situation - wait list and wait (when do they determine the wait list?) or wait list and book the following day as well?

I have no kris flyer status.
