Successful QF 'Bid Now Upgrades' data thread

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Received offer today for MEL-PER on the 27th April QF775 as per below.

Given that it is a 2-3-2 bird in J I opted not to offer.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

I'm pleased to report 2x Y -> J upgrades for SYD-ADL accepted for the minimum bid of 3k points + $180/pax at T-24

I'm looking forward to trying out J on the Qantaslink 717-200!

how was it??

I really enjoyed it! Preferred the leather seats to the tired old seats on the 738s that usually fly that route. I'd definitely pick the 717 over the 738 if scheduling allowed.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Received an offer to upgrade on QF776 PER-MEL on Friday 29th as per below that shows the minimum and maximum dollar and points. Again it is a 2-3-2 config in J so not even bothering and the flight seems to be lightly loaded.

Bid of 4000 points and $300 successful on QF566 PER-SYD to upgrade a red e deal ticket originally bought for $267. New fit out so quite happy.

I wonder if there is any linkage between "I" class award seat at the 24 hour mark and preparedness to sell off these unsold business class seats.
I would be surprised if QF had to invent a totally new algorithm to determine whether these seats should be released for "Bid Now Upgrades"
Just a thought.

Our direct flight on QF codeshare Melb to Fiji was cancelled 27th April, so elected to fly via Sydney same day. Was offered Business upgrade one week prior, and was successful MEL-SYD for minumum $115 plus 3,000 points. Cabin was still half empty. Worth the small cost to experience Business Class, even though a short flight.

Yesterday received a bid now offer for BNE-MEL, 4pm flight, Red-E deal (N)
I'm going for the minimum bid of 3k points and $160.
works out at about 1.4 cents per point (160/12000)
Normaly I would'nt upgrade on such a short flight but I thought what the heck, in the name of science and all that jazz. ;-)
I'll submit a data form when I get the result.

I was successful in an upgrade in March/April this year from Perth to Brisbane. Red e-deal originally $316, and offered $285 +4000 points. I'm Gold status as well if that helps. Business class was full.

I have a PER-SIN-DXB-LHR flight on Saver (not Sale). Already requested classic upgrade on the 7h A380 DXB-LHR segment, received a bid offer for the 5h PER-SIN segment today which is a LUXURIOUS 737-800.
Classic upgrade cost is 24,000 points, the bid now is minimum 5,000+$265 / suggested 5,000+$740 / max 5000+$1165 or 40000+$890
Seems that the bid upgrades are hugely more expensive but does give you a chance to save some points I guess. Expert flyer shows only J3 available (total of J9 I believe).

Upgrades for me are hard, because coming from PER there are almost no QF metal international flights.. all code-share emirates which are not upgradable (or bidable). Classic awards only.
One-way through DXB on codeshare is also generally $1500 one-way but $2k return making using classic awards for partial legs a relatively pocket hurting affair.

Well, my PER-SIN 737 upgrade was accepted, ha ha. Bidded a hair above the minimum at $265 + 6140 points on a Saver (not Sale) fare.

First bid now that I had accepted, shame that it's B737 but given I'm fairly large (~150kg) the extra room but not much else is maybe more of a plus than it is for some :)
Following on to SIN-DXB (EK A388) and then DXB-LHR (QF A388) so it's a fairly long haul. Routing via SIN was for status credit optimisation to hit gold before my AUG31 cut-off... so a fairly eventful trip!

Just noticed that a Bid Now upgrade I had in August posted as a classic award with no points or status credits. I have lodged a claim but it might be worth checking your activity statement

The on line missing points application has been declined in my activity statement with the note "check flight details" but it refers to a flight on a different date to the one I took. Guess I better call.

Told today from mate that flies QF and spoke with them today that bid upgrades receive no more SC or points! $180-400 for upgrade mel-bris..... Bit rich?

According to the T & C plus the FAQs on their website it earns at the original booking rate. Will let you know what the outcome is.

Continue to receive emails for every domestic booking. Have not yet received a single upgrade bid for any international flights.

I have never received one of these offers to upgrade... I guess I immediately apply to upgrade every flight* I take so they have no opportunity....

*where an upgrade is available ;)

In the same boat. Received a couple of offers when they first rolled out but it was only Brizvegas to Sydney so didn't bother - no other offers for sooooooooooooo long
