Thanks. I wonder if there is a chance to still get the 15% online discount if booking using the call centre because of the website's inability to handle a mixed class booking.
Absolutely guarantee you will. Just tell them problems with web site mean you are unable to achieve what you want - they WILL honour the 15% discount.

ALL KF reps are critically aware of SQ web site shortcomings - you will not be telling them something they have not heard 1,000 times before.

Agree - have always got the 15% when ringing. In fact have often had seats held whilst I transfer points from my points bank AMEX.
As has been said before our girlfriends at SIA can be very co-operative.

By the way, nobody has mentioned the mandatory Caviar before the lobster !

My caviar plate was returned ready for the dishwasher !

Yes, it was yummy.

Everyone should give it a try when you are in Suites.

And the lobster was of the heavy-weight category too, not the flyweight you might see in Sydney's Darling Harbour.

Flying the Suites on the A380 has always been a bucket list item for me.

This thread has got me a little excited...so after checking the online booking engine and transferring some points across from SPG and Amex, am ready to start exploring the 2 x Suites option for me and the better half. I'm looking for any advice please.

My plan is to pay as little cash for flights as practically possible. I am thinking to go either PE or J via QFF points one-way to Singapore and then do a one-way Suites trip back on SQ. I have more than enough QF points but my KF points currently stand around the 110K mark which I believe is 16K short of the mark (incl. of 15% online discount). Timing on the trip is totally flexible between now and Sep. My only dilemma is whether or not to take our 11 year old boy. I do not have enough points for him to fly Suites but could fly him in another section of the cabin (paying for the seat) or; do I have him stay with family for the 3 or so days I am planning for the trip.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? What suggestions to top up my KF points quickly so I can proceed with the booking?

Also, is it better to fly inbound in Suites or outbound? Does it make any difference? I probably won't be doing this again so would like to enjoy the whole experience as much as possible (ie; Flounge and onboard).

Any thoughts gratefully read and appreciated...

cheers

If you are planning on doing a SIN-SYD Suite for 2 people, you wont have enough points. If you are doing an outbound Suites SYD-SIN for 2 people you will have enough.

Sighing, advice. Don't take the kid yet. Leave him at home, the earlier you take them in J or F the worst it is for you. they will expect it every time. i know this from experience and Ms KLN hasn't suffered in Y since. hehehe

KLN, that's soooo true. I have already learnt this from experience too! I now have to spend so much time researching fare pricing for anything PE and beyond as a result. ;)

Hi Spizz. Why is that? I assumed that the points calculation would be the same either way...

I think what Spizz was getting at is there is readily 2 x F savers Syd-Sin but never 2 x F savers Sin-Syd. The only way to do Sin-Syd would be booking 1 x F saver and 1 x F Standard which is a lot more mores than you currently have!

Bingo :) It's actually amazing that there are 2 A380 Suite Savers available at all on the same flight.

Danger really started something here.
Now Mrscove thinks this is all I work on when I have my days off.
Bucket list destinations can get ticked off.

I suspect on you working days as well:)

Only after I have done my 19.99 hours of work kpc.
If I work more than that I have to hand back my Seniors card.
Frequent Flying on points is a great game.

I'm surprised that you even work 19.99 hours cove :), unlike the HUGE number of hours I do;)

Yes I cut back by a factor of 4 when I had the heart by pass. Remember to do your complete Bucket List rather than work yourself to death.
i want you to get those US Dividend Miles back so we can meet up in London, Zurich or Los Angeles.
Suites class isn't always the best schedule so often I go in the all J to Los Angeles and I love that one out of Singapore. That one ends this year.

Amen to that!

Going back to my original post though, I can see what Spizz is saying now...every date I choose for 2 x SIN-SYD comes up as wait list only compared with available when doing SYD-SIN. EDIT: Err...that is unless I go on Feb 12 or 13 - currently showing as available under SAVER (??)

Not showing up here SIN-SYD Suites Saver on the A380 for 2 people on those dates. AFAIK it will only work on the 1 route SYD-SIN.
MYMB

Yeah, you're right, my bad. I got a little too excited until I worked out it was on the triple 7, not A380.

Update on 2 x Suite Savers availability.

Cruiserette has never flown Suites and we have 2 x J Savers booked MEL-SIN-BCN June 19. With Suite Savers opening up thought I might try my luck to upgrade.

MEL-SIN-BCN shows ONLY 1 x Suite Saver - but 2 x F Savers available - thats no good as F just not Suites - although the SIN-BCN leg on 77W so std F and not Suite.

Check SYD-SIN-BCN on Jun 19 and 2 F Savers available - fantastic - but we gotta fly MEL-SYD am on Jun 19 but no biggie as SQ flt depart 15:15 so plenty time.

Called my girl Crystal in SQ/KF office in SIN - she fully understood dilemna and redicularity in SYD-SIN having 2 x Suite Saver abailability but MEL-SIN only having one - she has spent last 3 days trying to prise another Suite Saver loose but to no avail - told me this morn it just CANNOT be done at this point in time.

So have changed booking to SYD-SIN-BCN on 19th - jeez is Cruiserette going to be surprised.

Return BCN-SIN on 77W and SIN-MEL on 380 - both in J - but big step down from F and Suite - gonna be difficult to shoehorn her onto plane me tinks.
