Suites savers now available

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I've never booked redemption tickets/flights on SQ before. What are the chances of scoring 2 Suites saver seats to Europe (one way - either going or returning) in November a year ahead? I'm assuming that getting 2 J saver seats would be much easier, right?

Another data-point that 2 x R Savers to Europe is possible - a colleague just booked two for MEL-xSIN-CDG in June next year.

I haven't actually flew either of these A380 F cabins but I always thought SQ and EK were the top dogs with MH and TG somewhat behind.
Suprised you say you would rate the hard products as being comparable.
What are others' opinions ?

I was a little surprised he said that too.

I haven't flown EK or MH F, but I have flown both SQ A380 and TG A380 in F. To my mind, SQ beats TG hands-down - the hard product is nicer (much nicer cabin ambiance and aesthetic, bigger and more private suite), the champers is better (you get a choice on SQ, and IMHO Krug > Dom), and I also much preferred the SQ meals and service (these last points can vary flight-to-flight though, of course). That's not to say TG was bad - it was still very good, just not as good as SQ. I'd say the average of my QF A380 F flights beats TG A380 as well.

Just booked my first suites redemption SYD-SIN rtn in October. Really looking forward to it, and thanks to this thread have a) booked 3C and b) not used BTC.
Are there any other tips on how to maximise the experience (besides filling myself to bursting with Krug?

If the cabin is lightly loaded, ask the FAs to setup a spare suite for you as a bed, so you can have one for sitting/watching/eating and another for sleeping (that's if they don't offer to do this without you having to ask, which they likely will in my experience).

My best SQ R flight to date was a SIN-MEL sector with only two pax in the R cabin - myself in 3A and another gentleman in 3F (? - the window seat on the opposite side of the plane from 3A). After take-off one of the FAs drew all the dividers screens between the centre suite pairs, and then came over to tell me "Mr. wafliron, as we only have two passengers in Suites on today's flight, this side of the cabin is yours to enjoy". She then proceeded to set a second suite up as a bed, a third as a dining area, stored my carry-on luggage in a fourth, and told me to use the one I was sitting in for relaxing/watching/reading :D

Thanks! There is hope!! I would really like to experience the SQ suites at least once.

Thanks for all the replies. Now find I have to change my dates and go a day earlier - which means either a switch to the 777 or wiatlist on the 380. Decisions decisions. Yes I know - First world problem.
Cheers,
peter

We are a week away from our next Suites ride and nothing for the two of us until January because I have work commitments. Is that a first world issue as well?

Perhaps we should have a rule that only First World problems are to be discussed in this thread - I mean, we wouldn't want reality creeping in here would we?

As to my problem - I've had book on the 777 for the outbound leg - here's hoping the suites open up closer to the date.

First world problem: flying SQ231 SIN-SYD depart at 00:45 arriving 10:25, and should I Book the Cook the Boston Lobster Thermidor for breakfast? Or I should try something on their standard menu?

Yes, you should!

I haven't found BTC to be significantly better or worse than the inflight menu so I don't bother, would rather go with the flow. Other than the novelty factor of eating lobster inflight which is now a moot point in my case due to shellfish allergy.

FYI if you're the only person onboard, they will not load any main courses from the normal menu, only your BTC. So if you see something else you prefer, tough luck!

Despite what I previously posted about paying for a First Saver through to LHR but with BNESIN in J to avoid taking out extra annual leave, I cracked after noticing MELSIN Saver availability in Suites for 2. Didn't help that my better half was dropping not so subtle hints for the past couple of months . They also honoured the 15% online booking discount after I rerouted the ticket to leave ex-MEL. So we're now doing MELSINLHR in Suites for the same price. 6 weeks to departure, can't wait. :D

Pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to get Suites Saver to LHR (and whilst looking for back up options I can see that they also seem readily available to ZRH and CDG). There was also plenty of First Saver availability on the 77Ws (which would have been a more convenient option by reducing transit time in SIN) but the other half wouldn't hear of it. :p

On the other hand I can only seem to find 1 Suite Saver (seems to be policy according to numerous anecdotal reports) on any flight to North America or that's what we'd do for a visit to NYC next year.

I have tried checking availability of MEL or SYD to lax but the SQ website won't process it for an award booking but to JFK is fine. Anyone know the issue?

I have the opposite option.

+1 would not stay back in SIN for the late night A380, preferring to take the 77W to go back home earlier.

My offer of chilli crab failed to make any headway.

For a first world problem of this nature you need a first world solution - another +1 ;)

We have occasionally chosen to park ourselves at Crowne Plaza Changi for half a day and after that head off on a Suite saver on the A380.
Your +1 will be impressed with your willingness to keep the romance in your relationship.

Hi Keith
Did you find the rerouting process easy??
I did the same I had an ex MEL suites saver booked and was waitlisted on a SYD departure the same day.
Waitlist cleared and they had to cancel the MEL booking and refund points before I could confirm and ticket the booking ex SYD.
The process took days however they did waive the ticketing deadline for the waitlisted flight, retrospectively I should have deposited more miles in the account to cover this issue.

It wasn't straightforward due to POS controls on SQ redemptions but not impossible. Pretty rare for POS controls on redemption classes. First 2 agents insisted there was no availability until I worked out that they were searching for MEL-LHR rather than MEL-SIN... There aren't any seats on SINLHR as we're already confirmed in 2 Suite Savers ourselves on that sector in the first place. Nor was I keen for them to cancel the entire itinerary and rebook lest the inventory I am already holding for SINLHR don't return to O class upon cancellation. Third time lucky - I told the third agent that there's definitely availability if she searched for MELSIN by itself and incorporated that into the itinerary rather than attempt to rebook the entire routing... 30 mins on hold and it was all done. No cancellation and refunds - just payment of a service fee and SFT difference (YQ had increased by $70 within the last couple of months).

HUACA is key.
