Hi Eggs,
233750 IIRC.
Truly incredible value. Gotta love the savers.
Regards,
Peter

I'm kicking my myself! Just spent 228,000 in J with a combo of VA and AC going SYD - LAX - YOW for next year. Could have gone SYD -SIN - FRA (with a nice European stop over ) - NYC (stayed a few days ) and then a revenue to YOW with suites 97% of the way.

Ethical dilemma here.

I comfortably accumulate enough KF points to get Mrs asg29e and myself to Europe and back a couple of times a year in F/Suites. Next year the two Miss 29s will be accompanying us. They will be aged 10 and 7 at the time. Apart from the difficulty in finding availability for four of us, all that Dom, Krug and BTC would be utterly wasted on the small people. Should we
a. Book our suites savers for two as usual and throw the kids down the back as unaccompanied minors?
b. Suck up an economy paid fare for all of us?.
c. Put Mrs asg29e down the back with the kids?

What is the correct behaviour?

I could cope with (a)
I would hate (b)
I would probably die if I tried (c)

Singapore does say children are eligible for special fare if between the ages of 2 through 11 on the date of departure. Not sure if it's like infants where you can call up and add them on for $$ (or if you've already checked this).

I've got year before I need to worry about paying for little Eggs however I can guarantee A will be the chosen course once she is old enough to fly unaccompanied until then grandma, cousins or a family friend will be getting a free flight in Economy in return for a few hours baby sitting :)

I think the special kids fares are like 75% of full fare. Thats ALOT of money when your flying SUites

Why not try to get 4xJ awards? I hear SQ J is pretty good; not as good as R or F, but far more palatable than any of the a, b, or c options you've listed.

I'm sure I'd like you if I met you, Eggs, especially with a name like that - but what were you thinking.................

Yeah look I get it. I have only come over to KF since the VA marriage so still getting the hang of it. I just did not even consider that a flight like this would be so cheap on points and I was not even thinking about coming to the US from the other side which is silly as that's where I finishing up. I've got all year to build my points balance up and I can waitlist a few options I can pretty much depart anytime in a 6 day window so who knows I might get lucky.

With 6 days of options I reckon you'll be unlucky to not get a waitlist clearing. The Savers are definitely the go for travelling almost anywhere. They make the longer routings pass very tolerably indeed. There are faster ways to get to the US, and possibly better ways to use points, although I've not found one.
The trick with savers is to be flexible and be ready to pounce when you get the right fare. In this case I booked pretty much the day the dates opened up for my itinerary - and even then a few saver buckets were taken.
My firm belief is that the KF tie-up is the best thing about the VA program, at least it has been for me.

I have a question for the knowledgeable ones here.
Having booked my epic journey next year. I have SQ26 from SIN to JFK via FRA.
What is the likelihood of me being allowed to insert a stopover in FRA, given of course, availability on the dates I need in Suites for the onward journey (Could also do this for SQ25 in reverse).
Thanks,
Peter

Should not be a problem pg - check availability of the flt you want to change to - then call KF. But be aware - you may well have confirmed Saver rdpt SIN-FRA tucked away and Saver rdpt FRA-JFK on day you want may show available but that will be no guarantee that you can marry the sectors - KF rep will soon tell you if possible - only way way to find out my friend.

Might work. Looks possible to get 4 x J awards if one is prepared to be slightly flexible about dates. 640000 pts for 4 x J vs 450500 pts for 2 x F...Hmmm better prepay a bit of tax on the Krisflyer card while it has a decent earn rate.

Sorry for the off topic - I got incoming first class SQ Syd-Sin-HKG ( 2 adults 1 infant ). Can I bring guest to enter SQ lounges ?

cheers

bbqwer I am almost certain that if you hold R or F BP you can guest 1/BP into F Lounge but they will not have access to TPR. I have never guested so I am not 100% sure on that.

Ive read that F passengers can guest one into F lounge but as CE mentioned no guests allowed in TPR

I'm 100% sure on that.

No guest is allowed into TPR.

But swapping ticket is allowed - one entrant at a time.

Less fun but doable (double dipping) !

I see. Does the guest has to be SQ flight as well ? or any quest will do ?

cheers
