Throw back to a few weeks ago about updated suites, saw a post here with some pictures Singapore Airlines A380 New Suites Class - One Mile at a Time

Nice find. Has anybody flown on any of the refreshed suites yet? Unlikely I think, as I read that it's only the SIN-JFK flights that have been done so far?

Not sure how I feel about the new colour scheme, although maybe it's just because I'm used to the old colours! Would be interested to hear of any differences in seat comfort or any other cabin changes that might have been made

Yes 3 of us went from SIN to LAX in the newly refreshed Suite about 3 weeks ago.. A bit more darker brown and all fine.
What hurt more was not getting to do the run back by way of a round the world and instead returning just over a week later.
Yesterday I had to cancel the LHR-SIN Suite as we could not get there with a sick relative in Perth.

Really excited :p .

We are off in Aug 15 to LHR on SQ and will go ex MEL in J but return Suites (Saver) . As I'm going with Mrs Mandja, have taken seats 3 C and D (good ones??). She assures me that there will be no hanky panky, but that's ok, as Ill be busy with the Krug, vodka/caviar, lobster etc.
On the other leg its the 777-300ER - I presume seats 1A and 2A there are most acceptable?

We fly A380 suites ex LHR and , then 777-300ER ex SIN. I presume that we should get invites to TPR, even though we have 13 hours transit in SIN?

Mandja ALL SQ R And F pax are eligible and welcomed to enter TPR - checkin staff May or may not give you formal invite card - ask for it at checkin LHR as they are a great souvenir.

Yes 3C and 3D best Suites for a couple IMHO - SIN-MEL I would suggest you take 2C and 2D as they are a pair so you can interact - you can view seat plan and choose seats online but I am sure you know that. Enjoy

Can I ask why 2C/D is better than 3C/D? What do you mean they can interact?

Also, as Mandja has asked, is there preferred seats for couples on the 777-300ER?

I'll try to answer
On the A380 2C/D is further from the galley (galley is behind 3C/D, separating it from economy)

I guess "interact" is that C/D are the middle seats (1-2-1 configuration), so you can toast your seat buddy! with Krug etc

On the 777-300ER, middle seats are again preferred by couples (1-2-1 config as well) - depends again if you want to seat with your buddy! Galley this time is in the front, and J cabin behind the F cabin.

I think you have mis-understood. Cruiser Elite is saying that seats 2C/D are better than 1A/2A for couples on the 777-300ER. 3C/D are favoured on the A380.

yup, toast your seat buddy - exactly what I was thinking ....

Might have to swap my A380 seats to 2C/D, but is it risky since it's got the bassinet?

Maybe it's the way Cruiser Elite wrote it, but it looked like he implied 2C/D interact more than 3C/D? Did I read this right?

Well, you can only select and leave it up to the higher powers if a bassinet request comes along...
We gave up our C/D seats for a child and parent recently, we figured we have many many many years to hold hands and missing a flight holding hands ain't going to change that!
3C/D is just behind 2C/D, same seats, same setup, just one row behind
Usually there is not much noise once your NC headphones are on, so don't get too worried about row 2 or 3. Just enjoy the ride, service and Krug.

No, you have not read it right. When Cruiser Elite mentioned 2C/D he was referring to the 777-300ER. On the A380 the setup of 2C/D and 3C/D are the same, except you are more likely to be bumped from 2C/D.

OK let's try to clear this up so no confusion for anybody - and this time I will keep explanations as simple as possible - time for some of you guys to do some thinking yourselves.

Here is Suites seat map for SQ A380:

380 Seat Map.JPG

Note 2C and 2D are always blanked out and you cannot select them online. 3C and 3D are the 2 Suites we have reserved - now just think to yourselves - as a couple where would you want to sit? If you are trying to secure 2 adjoining middle Suites and 3C and 3D are taken - you can call up SQ / KF call ctr and request 2C and 2D - they will allocate them to you but will also advise if requirement for bassinet arises post your allocation that you may be required to give up seat.

Now here is SQ 773 F layout - same on all planes except 380:

773 Seat Map.JPG

If you were a couple travelling in this cabin which pair of seats would you select? FTR - I always choose 2C and 2D just because it is back row and I can view ALL that is going on in cabin. Even when travelling solo I always choose 3C in R or 2C in F - remember - RHD v LHD - important considerations. Window seats do not attract me at all.

Did someone say hanky panky? If you have a few hour lay over the place for that is the Crowne Plaza Changi even if it isn't half way to your final destination. I really like the big bath.
Now I go 2A or 3A as I sleep on my left side. I don't like the right side since the shoulder repair.
If there are spare seats I ask to use a spare for dining and movies and get my selected suite made into a bedroom.
Next 2 rides are in November to Los Angeles.

Many thanks for the advice and suggestions

For the A380 we have selected 3C and 3D. I didn't like the possibility of being bumped. Since selection I note that 2C and 2D have now also gone.
I like the idea of Cove "use a spare for dining and movies"

For the 777-300ER we have opted for none of your suggestions this time. I have always coveted seat 1A (I love the sound of it!) , so we went for 1A and 2A
Whilst not next to each other, we can at least be adjoining- plus the window seat (with aisle ) is desirable.. After nearly 30 years of marriage , we decided that we can resist not hand-holding for the flight duration.

Finally, I hear that the SQ Flounge at LHR is ordinary - alternatives? I have no SQ airline status. We do have EH silver, not that it would help

BTW I was surprised how easy it was to get the Suites. I'm not sure how many there were available

There you go - you read it first here on AFF - cove likes to do 'it' in the 'big bath'!

Just wait til I tell his better just how much personal info he is ro readily spreading here!

If you are flying post September from LHR I think you may be in the new terminal, currently the lounge (t3) is ok, the F part is quiet - usually only a few pax.. btw if you like some laksa you may ask them to make some for you

Had a great crew on the way back from SIN, they added extra touches - like "making" a palate cleanser from what they had in the galley between courses, serving the dessert with some dry ice, letting me dine whenever etc.
I am spoilt now - I blame Cruiser Elite, Cove et al (with much gratitude!)

Yes I have mentioned this before - all R and F crews will indeed come and ask if the anticipated meal time is ok - if you want earlier or later just ask - they will accommodate. I sometimes feel the meal can seem rushed - I usually ask for at least 10 mins between course - always accommodated.

It can be really easy to get award savers suites if your 'really' flexible on when you want/can fly.

For my flight in Oct/Nov, I had to find MEL-CDG and LHR-MEL as it was easier to just fly back from LHR than train/fly LHR-CDG just to catch a flight home, and it cost the same, points wise, as return, maybe bit more in tax, I think, otherwise I'd had to wake up at 5am in London to catch a 11am flight in CDG.

I found a MEL-CDG with award saver suites on both sectors (as I think SQ are taking away all A380 flights from MEL in OCT sometime?), so decided to work my whole trip around this flight. The earliest A380 flight I could find from LHR-MEL was 3 weeks away, as I initially only wanted to have a 2 week trip, I extended my trip by another week as I wanted to make the most of my points and fly suites.

Many thanks for the advice and suggestions

Flight SQ319 Between London Heathrow LHR and Singapore SIN with Singapore (First) | Flight-Report
This report is from April '14 from the T3 lounge.

London Heathrow T2 airport lounges Star Alliance Lufthansa Singapore Airlines Air Canada - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller
Opens 17th September 2014. The new lounges, from the pictures, look so much better than the old one in T3.

Does anybody know if you are allowed in the F lounge when you have booked a mixed F/J redemption but paid the full F rate? So if I fly LHR-SIN in suite, then J for Perth leg (no F available), which lounge can I use in Singapore.
