Tale of 2 brekkies [or Qantas "Cafe" Breakfast Sucks!]

Re: Qantas Cafe Breakfast

Another vote for the business "cafe breakfast" being rubbish. (QF128 HKG-SYD)
Speaking to other PAX I have not found anyone who likes the change and I find the QF line on the change laughable.
(though quiet a few crew will agree privately)
Give us back the choice QF! might be the straw that moves me to VS.
Ironically economy still gets a cooked breakfast.

On the same flight in first and no breakfast at all.

Re: Qantas Cafe Breakfast

no attempt at all to do the service quietly in case you are still asleep.

On the QF82 I did in August, I would say that they were deliberately making sure that people woke up. I'm sure they had their reasons, probably to do with pyjamas, changing and queues for the toilets, but not nice for the few of us who wear our own gear and do not feel the need to hog the toilet before landing.

On QF20, the overnight service from MNL, there are no PJs offered!

Re: Qantas Cafe Breakfast

Personally, I am unsure how people can eat a full meal in the lounge (and sometimes being complete gluttons), a full meal at supper and then 5 hours later want a full breakfast! All the while not moving around significantly and staying plonked down. I think the more pertinent issue here, as was raised earlier, is that SQ offers you either supper of breakfast. On one of these flights breakfast for me is a coffee.

Re: Qantas Cafe Breakfast

It's about choice.

I was on QF6 (SIN-SYD, 22:25-08:05+1) in J a few days ago. I ate in the lounge and took nothing but water on the plane. The Cafe Breakfast was on offer and many took it. I was transiting in SYD so decided to skip it and head to the lounge instead. But if SYD had been my final destination, I think I would have opted for a full breakfast (had I been given the choice!).

For me the more pertinent issue is that out of HKG, CX offers one of the best business class seats in the industry together with flexible options for a full dinner or light dinner, full breakfast or light breakfast. As an aside on CX I can always get (if I want) fruit and cheese and dessert, whereas on QF you only get one of the three.

For me, complimentary PJs and the option of only a cafe breakfast is not enough of an advantage to work my schedule around one flight per day and angled skybeds. Unless, of course, QF is cheaper.

Re: Qantas Cafe Breakfast

do you mean there was no breakfast offered at all for first class?

Correct nothing was offered in reference to myself that is.

Good grief. I've been overlooked in J - FA got interrupted and the row got skipped - but Its hard to see how this could occur in F. I guess even F FAs have bad days.

It's not about eating all of them, it's about choosing.

My issue ex-HKG recently was I'd have preferred to eat more in the lounge pre-departure, skip dinner and have a large breakfast.

Others may prefer large on plane dinner and mini breakfast (without time for lounge food).

Looking forward to checking this out in a few months. I chose CX in preference to J A380 so hope the choice was a good one.

Re: Qantas Cafe Breakfast

Lots of complaints about Qantas. Surely if everybody complained it could make a difference. Hopefully people have formally complained because if it only goes as far as a whinge on this forum, nothing will change. Currently waiting to board QF82 - had a good filling dinner in the lounge - I'll be interested to check out the breakfast option as we approach Sydney

Re: Qantas Cafe Breakfast

Thats cough. Did you complain?

It was a strange situation. When no pjs offered, I, and I heard others, ask for same. The crew did a (real) hunt around and seemed genuinely surprised, and apologetic, when none were found.

They said ' new policy (etc)' . However I later was told here that it was normal for the Manila run. I also spotted the same crew ( or the business components) on a domestic flight 2 days later, so maybe they weren't a regular intl crew.

No, I didn't complain. And this was my first experience of the execrable cafe breakfast too.
