I know the OP very well, having met him several times over the years, and he is one of the most generous persons on this forums. His OP routing can be figured out without too much difficulty. At the last OzFest in Darwin, the OP ran a a small tutorial about how to find / book these fares....the only condition was that you had to be present in person. Over the years, I have learnt quite a few tips by meeting AFFers in person (haven't yet met one that I disliked immensly
), and you'll be surprised what they are prepared to share in person as opposed to posting online.
Well, I must
thank you kpc for your very kind comments. Isn't the internet an interesting place. There are so many wonderful positive people, and that comes through in the tone they seem to convey through their written word.
Now as some of our friends know, I sometimes don't get much of a chance to keep up with what is happening on this board and foxtrot tango also.
So, I am very heartened to see so many positive sentiments here. Thanks to

I note that many seem to enjoyed the challenge in the 1st post, and many have solved the travel possibility.
I really enjoy meeting fellow travellers in person when I can, as do many others - it is always a great chance to catch up and share our experiences. Like at OZFEST in Darwin for example. I was so sorry I could not attend AFF in CBR this year.
As stated above, those in DRW were able to have a little chat about some of our travel experiences.
Well, I am sad to report, that two of the search tools we discussed have unfortunately changed dramatically last weekend. A number of us have written to the major search page we used till last weekend. They say they will bring the *up search function back in the future. The second , now bought by google, continued giving access to the original search page, which many found very useful. Google pulled it last weekend, never to be returned. So I know for myself, search has become a lot more difficult for the ordinary traveller.
So, back to
the Great SC Chase.
I have to acknowledge the wonderful clues for other chases being put up in another thread - well done to those posters.
1. As we know AA has declared bankruptcy recently . Who knows how that will affect routing/fare structures etc in the future. Now I can report that the fare alluded to in the opening post seems to still be intact. And 9 legs may be possible, but schedule changes already mean that 1 leg on the 777 is no longer there.
2. At a similar time, I could have said to you - So Just You go to the Biggest Little City in the World. Similar fare, similar routing rules. Sadly I have to report that price seems to have jumped about $200 since the middle of the year. However, it may still suit some.
3. I know many friends like a little business class trip closer to home in the Great SC chase. It is discussed extensively here. Something about Indian bread or something. And save a few hundred by buying the return leg from the swaying palms. I have only ever seen the routing discussed where the great capital of Queensland is the origin or destination. Well did you know that I have found only one other place in OZ where a similar fare is offered. And, it may suit those who are trying to get to a certain airfield beside Castle Hill to start some of the wonderful Jasa's that our very generous moderator markis10 has so often kindly told us about.
That alternative also has swaying palms, as well, just to confuse my self a little more.
I just checked some prices this morning, and it offers 40sc more for a $200 approx higher fare. If you follow the sound advice to buy your return ticket under the swaying palms EF seems to show it around US$139 higher.
So I hope most of you enjoy this post as you seem to have the first.
I want to wish all parents whom have children receiving school leaving results at the moment all the best. Well done for getting the grateful little darlings to this stage of life.
And to all my travel friends, a very safe and happy Christmas to you and to your loved ones. Best wishes. John.
