Had a look in M&S today but the style they had that I liked, had a similar sole! Will have to find something online methinks, not braving the cold again. Was snowing this morning (again)

And I walked 30 mins in it this morning. Tower bridge was amazing like usual. Its great being able to walk to training... although I may tube it back this afternoon.

Oh no. The Sun could be dropping the page 3 girl from their uk newspaper.

My sister and her family lived a few doors down the road from one of the lasses. (She was also a c or d grade celebrity due to an appearance on a reality show).

It will probably get greater coverage on some media outlets than the Pope retiring.

Flashware be kind to your tail bone (coxis) and dump those Hilton slippers by the front door. I heard that it can be quite painful if you break that bone so butt sliding should be off the agenda in your new home.
Or don't try high jumps. A friends son misjudged the jump and landed on the wooden bar just before the bag. Very nasty indeed.

We visited Sistine Chapel last July and wondered when we would be seeing black or white smoke. Didn't expect it to be quite so soon.

Is it polite to post two things at once? I'm just dipping my toes into this quirky thread.

Committed a sin and contacted FC about sourcing some flights for our honeymoon in January.

Received a response that because the flights are not till January 2014, they can't help me until April this year.

Umm... ??

It's all the reason I needed to proceed by myself.

autos are great going up hill
they're a bit fast going down hills but then im into steep high country tracks!

probably a better pick unless you do lots!

If getting an auto chose a spec that includes hill descent & ascent control! When used properly its an exceptional off road aid!

Probably waiting until the majority of airlines have loaded their forward schedules.

I would like to go back to an auto as it has been a few cars since I have had one. The electronics these days actually make the autos better in the bush than most manuals - and more fuel efficient. The off road stuff is not going to be super hard core.

If you don't have a low-range box you certainly need auto for the torque multiplying effect.

What with electronic traction control and hill descent and the myriad of other features, manual is ancient history.

You should see the size of the ice cube!

Does anyone remember seeing a doco by Tim (Burden???) on Channel 2 some years ago, about his trip to the Antarctic? He brought some ice back, and the film showed him later enjoying a fine Scotch with his Dad, with said ice. How cool would that be!

Until the first time you have to sink your car in a creek. ;) Fancy electronics don't work well in water.

Thought this would be of interest to a lot of people here.... Beer doesn't give you a belly, study claims

Funded by a beer company. :). But it isn't rocket science. It's all about calories and carbs. The main issue in drinking beer is the salty fatty snack foods and large meals that accompany it.
I used to work in an alcohol and drug addicts treatment area and many of the alcoholics (heavy duty) were thin and malnourished as booze is all they consumed.

A modicum of common sense is always required, regardless of the technology involved.

I've heard of people operating in tropical locations, snorkel and all that, who might often get stuck in a creek crossing. To prevent the car being washed away they would open the doors and sink the car. Still runs fine once out of the creek, but maybe not with fancy electronics.

A seemingly sensible action compared to something I've done.

I certainly don't intend to cross creeks of any significance. Most off my off road stuff is in the Vic/NSW high country, in summer.

Think I was making a general observation. But fair point, well made.
You make a good point, though. Driving in a creek that is deep enough to float the car is poor form IMO. Sinking the car and then recovering it in a more controlled environment is probably the best option.

The current is more the issue. Water not above the engine, but decent current could wash the car away. Seen that in a patrol with water at mid-door height. Don't ask how, it involves stupidity.
