Was given a new contract today; not sure whether to be offended or amused. Decent pay rise, but massive cut in hours which puts me way behind where I was before in terms of pay. A new job can't come soon enough...

As long as it has a short notice period then nice to bridge the gap in the mean time I guess..

Arrived home from dinner at a nearby pub to find no power.

Neighbours indicate it's been the case since 7:15pm

Using solar garden lights inside currently.

Unfortunately not; notice period increases to 4 weeks, but that might be something to discuss. Ill have to take it until I find something better...

Damn, one of those. Yeh, I had the same thing happen on my contract (although hours stayed the same and pay went up). It does make it more painful when looking though, especially as with most contracts they often want you to start yesterday.

If I can't negotiate it due to reduction of hours, then I have enough leave saved to give four weeks notice but be gone after two... The last person in my position did that, took long service leave and handed in their notice on the way out the door

Supervising my registrar, RSI patient male in 30's didn't look difficult. No option to wake patient up. Two failed attempts by Reg, luckily we could BMV. Third attempt I took over  Grade 4 view managed to intubate after rail-roading a tube over a blind bougie.
Great save! I have only spent one day in OT doing intubations but that was 5 years ago... I performed one ETT and 6 x LMA but since then have only used mannequins. Not the same feel and if you don't use it, you lose it. I wouldn't be too comfortable performing this now but if push came to shove, I would.

I had a customer in the shop today who was suppose to be on his way to hospital to be admitted but we spoke last week and his mobile phone contract was up today and he knew he would have a few days in hospital so he wanted time to get it all set up he got a call from the hospital as he was sitting at my desk as the doctor was saying I am here where are you. He had not been home yet to get his clothes either. He got an I phone 5

We have our own business. No such thing as long service leave here but our employees get it.

Well at least he had his priorities correct ;)

My boss was unimpressed to hear about my contract and has gone in to bat for me; fingers crossed I get my hours back.

Good luck.

BTW, don't you think its a little strange that your boss was not fully aware of your new contract:confused:

Not really. He's a proper absent-minded middle-aged scientist.:p Spent all day yesterday negotiating with the Director but the detail of less hours was glossed over.
