True, They used to hate the ruskies. After Old Ronny and Margs dealt with that lot, there was no one left to hate. So they had to find someone.

Aliens, dinosaurs, asteroids, even the future wasn't hatey enough..now if only we could start being scared of poor people....

People celebrating someone's death?

Not an ancient concept. Most recent prominent example would be Adolf Hitler. And thus the curtain fell on a major World War, and the liberation of several from death camps.

I was not old enough to know well what Thatcher stood for or Thatcherism, but it seems to be quite a polar divider, and if people are glad she is dead, then so be it. Not like some isolated example, e.g. Germaine Greer and Steve Irwin. I'm expecting if Gillard dropped dead tomorrow, there would be a similar situation, except maybe many more people glad she was dead compared to Thatcher; after all, we all know Gillard has neither an iron will nor any balls (plus Gillard isn't a baroness, and not entirely sure whether she is entitled to a state funeral with full honours).

We have different definitions of funny. Half the pictures of people I saw celebrating her death weren't even born during her period of government.

Yes the scenes in Brixton were like some giant convention for underachievers and general wasters.

Just another excuse for a riot.

Well I was alive during her reign, however I was always taught never to speak I'll of the deceased, especially the recently deceased, so I will refrain from making any comment on the baroness. !

oh brixton... I was out that way yesterday. Lets just say, I don't think things have changed in years... still massive drug issues, and some very scary characters out there. As I've said about another couple of places in the uk... if aliens landed there, they would say wtf? And leave earth quickly...

Believe me, as a comparative measure & your youthful charismatic appearance You are still young..
Perhaps an increase in the vitamin dose.. Boost juice bars for a start.. Will help.. :D

Yeah, I left my walking stick in the car this morning :p

But keep in mind that its a scientifically proven fact that the people who have the most birthdays also live the longest :p

This is generally true, except for those born on the 29th of February, where making it out of the teens is a huge achievement :p

But for that specific group of people the scientific fact still applies - just not when comparing with a wider group for whom that constraint does not apply

"I have to give blood pressure pills to Pushka each day - she is quite ferile and the males in the family can't believe I force her jaws open each day - they aren't brave enough. This is the cat that has bitten me so many times, and several doses of antibiotics later as she gave me an infected hand. "

Compounding pharmacies can do some pretty clever things with pet medications to make them easier to give or more palatable. If you are having that much trouble it might be worth asking your vet what options there might be.
Or maybe you already have .... Sometimes cats just have to have the last word .

My favourite is the one that can be wiped in their ears- not every drug works this way unfortunately

Today's travels..........

Landed in HNL early on JQ1 this morning, got a cab into town.

My cab driver kept nodding off during the heavy traffic stops, I asked him about 10 times if he was ok, until we stopped at the first set of lights off the freeway, where he promptly went to sleep!!!

I was in the back and shook him from behind in the minivan to see if he was ok, his English wasn't good, he said "sleep sleep" I said not with me here your not! So I told him I'll drive, he sat in the passenger seat and went to sleep while I drove to the next easy place to stop. About 200 yards down the road (near the freight docks for those that know HNL)

Got out didn't pay him anything and had to wait about 30 minutes for another empty cab to come along.

Doesn't bode we'll for the rest of the trip!

Now that's scary and could've had a much worse conclusion.

It's probably too late, but if you had noted down the driver details, you could've reported that to the cab company (or even your pickup and dropoff details); yeah, you didn't pay, but I wouldn't either if my life was put at stake.

The actions of Hitler and Thatcher are not even remotely related.

Now if you celebrated the death of Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein etc I would understand.

But I can just picture the no-hopers celebrating Thatchers death....

IME there is nothing wrong with a taxi driver falling asleep, provided they take that as the message to go home. (Clearly this guy didn't) The more interesting tired behaviours for taxi drivers are waiting for the stop sign to turn green and pulling over to pick up a wheelie bin*.

* Did both of those on the way home to bed after falling to sleep driving across the Captain Cook Bridge in Brisbane, many years ago.

"This is the chief warden. Please ignore the alarm. You do not need to evacuate. One of our sensors has shorted out, you may smell a burning smell on the floor for the next 60 minutes"

Umm.. ok.
