I hate incompetent managers. I used to work in an area where the pointy haired boss from Dilbert would've been preferable.

I wont tolerate it again.
I find the management style today hopeless. They are not sure what to do.

They are unable to make a decision. They keep trying things to see if things work out.

They are quite happy to inconvenience someone to make someone else happy.

All in all poor. And you are not allowed to be unhappy with any decisions and keep your job....

I seem to always be living in a glass dome of sorts, because the management I've had so far may not be the best in the world, but on the relative scale they are definitely above average, supportive and yet pragmatic, even during periods where we've been economically squeezed.

Well you already return "home" every week... or are you meaning leaving Brisbane completely?
Going "home" every weekend and making a decision to return "home" are 2 different things.

Well at least I think they are and the time is probably right to leave Brisbane.

In 6 weeks it will be 5 years and is by far my second longest job. Lease ends 30 September and no flights booked past September at this stage.

See how things go this week.

Good luck whatever you decide.

The end to commuting would surely be good JohnK?
Ending SYD-BNE commute would probably be a good thing for me.

I need another job though and the way the market looks at the moment, Melbourne would be the logical choice for the next job but I will try for a contract role rather than permanent. New Zealand would also be another possibility.

God I hate this type of advertising

Some online luggage website said:
Retail Price: $300.00

Our Price: $118.99

Price too low to show! Add to Cart to see final price.
The $118.99 has been struck out. So add to cart and final price is $111.99.

Too low to show? Big deal....

What will Friday's afternoon topic be after Sept

Yes but this mean the end to you accumulating SC's and points on a semi weekly basis?
Getting real close to target of 1,000,000 QFF points and Lifetime Gold.

Wait and see what happens at work. May not be all doom and gloom.

Sounds like the only reason you're staying is for points and SC.... each to their own, but that wouldn't be a reason for me to keep working somewhere!

That is not the reason I have stayed.

The simple reason is I am not quite ready to retire and I need a job. Actually I can retire right now but travel would be limited.

And my philosophy when it comes to employers is better the devil you know than the devil you don't know.

With jobs getting scarcer by the minute JohnK may be correct. Of course you should like where you work, like where you live and like where you play.
A points millionaire with status sounds pretty good to me and then add in everything else.

Dont know what all the fuss in Adelaide is about QF not offering international services!

I bet there's a bunch of Adelaide people who are requesting to get off and take their luggage who are being told they have to stay onboard.

Ugh - it is now three weeks since my interview and 10 days since my reference checks and still no confirmation on a new job...

Motivation in my current job is pretty low - but at least I have redundancy to look forward to...
