How does one find an electrician who isn't a rip off? My 18-19 year old apartment needs the switches in many power points replaced as they are starting to disintegrate and 'pop out'. I know how much the switch costs - $3.85 - and I need 5 changed but I'm getting quotes of $300+ for mid next week (after the long weekend).

I estimate 5 mins work each, so half an hour plus some travel time. $20 parts.. There's no way an electrician should be charging $560+ an hour.

Any recommendations for lower north shore in Sydney?

(I know I could do it myself but that would be illegal).

There are definite advantages of having a sparky for a neighbour; I think my last power point set me back $40. Unfortunately he's in Melb.

What's up JohnK. Too cryptic for me. :)

I could see JohnK's last few postings on a hypothetical JohnK Facebook wall or JohnK Twitter updates. They are all just the right size and length, too.

Probably would elicit the same responses, though as a microblog you could easily just let it go by. :)

Today I am heading to Perth.

VA464 to Perth, I hope the service is good as the top thread on AFF is discussing how bad the meals are on VA.

I checked in 4 bags of clothes and sent a pallet to Perth via road, once I find a place to live I organize a furniture removalist to send the small bits of furniture, bed, fridge, sofa and a few chairs.

I will see some of you at AFF mid year in Sydney. 29 June.

I think I may have cut the line at SYD this morning. Surely the "express path" wasn't actually that long.....

The train from KLIA is looking expensive at $10 compared to the flight LOL
