What lifestyle? In bed by 9:00pm and up at 5:00am? To do what? Feed the cows?

The problem with Brisbane is the people have not adjusted to city life and anyone that moves here (hint: think people from outside of Brisbane) quickly adjusts to the boring life as there is nothing else they can do.

I am glad I can leave and not stuck in this time warp.

You've just proved my point. The fact that you can't find out what happens in Brisbane does not mean nothing happens. As I said the biggest issue seems to be your choice to not engage in the lifestyle. That's your choice. It is not a problem with Brisbane.

I also agree with this, but I can see where JohnK's point of view may/might be similar to mine. That is, a city I work in, is not necessarily the same as the city I live in, just as a city your visit (as a tourist) is never the same as it would be if you actually lived there.

But hey, we're probably a better place still to live than some other freak places. *cough* Canberra *cough* :p  *runs*
LOL!

Speaking as a Queenslander myself, I have a soft spot in my heart for Brissy. There's a lot to be said for the glorious winter days - especially if one is a visiting Southerner! - and the mellow summer evenings, when the air is like velvet and the beer slides down like golden silk.

The novel I'm currently working on is set in Brisbane. An earlier Brisbane, mostly.

Some cities are indeed better to visit than live in. Paris is high on my list there. I love Paris and I feel uplifted every time I visit. But if I had to live there, battling with the bureaucracy, I think some of the gloss might rub off.

San Francisco is one place where - given enough money - I could live happily.

San Francisco, I believe, compared to Los Angeles, is a lot more laissez-faire.

That said, as Robin Williams once said, it's living on God's Etch-a-Sketch.

Pretty much, exactly. Brisbane is a city he's visiting, albeit on a regular basis. Any comments need to be viewed from that perspective.

I havent proved anything. There is no lifestyle for me to engage. Take away the big buildings and Brisbane is a country town.

It does not want to change and I dont want to embrace this "lifestyle".

The quicker I can get out of here the better.

Born and bred in Sydney and spent my first 29 years there. Then 18 years in the Hunter valley but the last 20 in QLD.This is where I will stay.Have to visit Sydney to see family but in less than a week I want out.

Have barracked for the Maroons since Origin 1.That is because I was a masochistic North Sydney Bears fan. Many of their players were Queenslanders.I cant think of a match in Origin without a Bears player in maroon.Kerry Boustead who scored the first QLD Origin try,Billy Moore who scored one of QLD's most seen tries, his partner Gary Larson,Martin Bella,Ben Ikin,Peter Jackson,Brett Dallas amongst others. And of course the greatest rugby league winger ever the Queenslander Ken Irvine.

So sorry QLD wins my vote too.

You've just done it again. I can only repeat: just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There is a very active social life to engage with in Brisbane. Your choice to ignore it, is your choice.

Your position is the same as me claiming New York City doesn't exist because I've never seen it.

You may be incapable of changing your opinion. But the fact remains when living in Brisbane my lifestyle was extremely busy and involved social activities after 9 PM and even after midnight 6 or 7 days a week.

The fact that you haven't found something does not mean it doesn't exist, just that you haven't found it for whatever reason. You're continuing claims there is no lifestyle proves my point that you haven't found the lifestyle. Given the naysaying I can only think that is a choice you've made. Which gets us to the point, you choose not to found the lifestyle and so you don't find it. Self fulfilling prophecy.

At least we can agree that the sooner you leave the better. Then you can find the next place without a lifestyle.

Anyone going to the soccer qualifier for Brazil this week? Four young Socceroos supporters from Perth are in Melbourne for the game.
We really need a win.

Well currently a goal up in the MEL match. Fingers crossed they can hang on.
