Cripes you blokes. I'm gobsmacked reading about delay repay......if you lived in Melbourne like me, you'd realise that all the train companies would immediately go broke!! The rail system p/s in just about any country in the world would beat the Vics. Let's not start on Myki....it's a funny conversation you two have started.

Oh its an art form in the UK to get your delay repays... There are websites which track delayed trains and record them. Season ticket holders then claim on those delays (IMHO... That is dodgy). If I'm on a train and a delay starts happening.... Mentally I take a note, then keep track of it. I will claim 2 pounds back at times... Keep them honest.

But yeah the repayment system is good. You would be amazed at how it puts the right type of pressure on train operating companies and railway maintenance workers to get things running again.

Surely on a season ticket holder though they track when you tag in / out to see if it covers that time of delay? That being said, I'm not sure I see an issue with claiming delays for season tickets when you're not on the train.... season tickets are overpriced anyway, so why shouldn't you get something back!

Overpaying for public transport - viz. paying something and not getting the quality or coverage of public transport commensurate to the fare paid - seems to be a problem in the Western world - or at least the Anglophone societies...

Some TOCs automatically provide refunds for season card holders based on their performance. Others don't. And while yes you might tag in and out of stations... It doesn't easily mean that paper tickets can be tracked properly.

James Gandolfini dead at 51, not that old at all.
James Gandolfini, the Emmy-award-winning actor who played Tony Soprano on the hit television show The Sopranos, has died in Italy.

The 51-year-old is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

HBO confirmed that Gandolfini was holidaying in Rome at the time of his death, according to CNN

Loved The Soprano's and have the series on DVD.

I think this is what's called a First World Problem!

I would love to have had the ice problem this morning. In the middle of gridlock peak hour traffic my radiator died. Smoke everywhere and nowhere to go. The Adelaide Council yesterday dug through a major comms cable and messed up all the traffic lights, creating monster grid locks into the city and my car is smoking hot. Finally pulled over into a traffic island. Weird thing though is that the engine temp didnt rise! But worse, I had my 85 year old mother, who has never driven in her life, giving me commentary on how bad the traffic is and how bad the smoke was. RAA finally arrived and lucky for me my repair place was only about 400 metres away (that's Adelaide for you). But then I had flattened the battery by having the hazard lights on. Finally on my way to the repair shop to have my mother chip in and tell me the smoke was back (RAA had refilled the radiator). Needless to say she knew she had said the wrong thing as I was trying to do a U Turn in the middle of gridlock. Now I just wait to find out the cost. :(

Very sad news about James Gandolfini. Such a great actor.

I'd say the solution would be to buy a new car!

...or a new mother! They are just NEVER wrong, I love the fact that they don't know what they're talking about doesn't stop them

Yep, that's on the Agenda. Alpha Guiletta, Red. Auto. But I need to wait a few more months. Money and all that! And I want a brand spanking new one which is a really silly financial decision to make as it depreciates the second I drive it out of the yard but I dont care.....So sick of buying second hand older model cars.

Hmm, that's just funny! :)

Groan. $1100. But that does include replacement coolant.

And that is why I work in Sydney. So I don't have to drive in Adelaide.

Not to mention SWMBO turning into mrs bucket. "Watch the cyclist, medhead"
