In contrast, I went for a 30km bike ride yesterday and my arms and hands got a lil sunburnt (face was OK though!)

Whoever coined the phrase "Queensland, beautiful one day perfect the next" did not live here. I have been living in Brisbane for 5 months now and I have not seen a day with clear sky yet. Overcast and miserable everyday.

Oh, and I got wet last night walking up the hill with suitcase and 2 carry bags....

Another game of golf another major disappointment. I am starting to feel like a hacker again and ready for the AFF golf game in February....
My handicap is into 24; yesterday I won our club's B grade club championship on the 19th hole - I had to celebrate at the 20th ... :D

Played at Rosebud CC "East Course".

Ahh, but you have not been here on the weekends. Each Saturday during those 5 months has been wonderful :p.

I would concur with that on the Sundays that I have been there in the past few months

well yesterday (Sunday) was lovely and clear and about 30 degrees until about 2:30pm when the clouds rolled across the south east and by 5pm most of the city was in a deluge. I emptied 77mm from the rain gauge this morning

Congratulations. You may be the lowest marker by the time we play the AFF challenge in February. I am a 13 handicapper playing more like a 27 handicapper. :(

When I was much younger I played both East & West at Rosebud in the one day. In fact I drove down from Sydney on the Sunday, 13 hours or more via the coast road, played 8 games in 5 days and drove back on the Saturday around 10 hours via Snowy Mountains. My eyes could not handle that much driving these days.

I notice that the Rosebud Motel, I stayed there many years ago, is continuing with the specials of 6 nights accommodation and 5 days golf playing the newer courses. Hopefully I will get the time to come down for a week soon but I will fly down and hire a car for the week instead of driving there and back from Sydney.

Seems like you do a lot of similar gold intensive stuff in the land-of-smiles these days ...

Rosebud CC have built a 39 room 'resort' (read Motel) alongside the driveway of the course proper ... at 6:30 am yesterday morning most rooms seemed occupied with cards parked ...

There is always one in the peanut gallery.

I did spend a weekend in Brisbane back in July and if I remember correctly it was miserable then as well. I will be in Brisbane this weekend and also another weekend next month so do not plan on doing anything outdoors on those weekends....

Here's one for any programming geeks or freaks here. (I'm one too, but I can't work this one out.)

I use ba97.com to store my flight record online. I was editing stuff the other day and realised Fairchild Metroliner 23 is too big for the Aircraft field. So I tried abbreviating to F'child Metr 23.

The first time I tried this, it didn't work - I got an SQL error. Then, trying to be smart, I tried it again, except I used the Aircraft type as F\'child Metr 23. (I'd learned a few tricks having to deal with SQL in final year IT.)

This worked and it is reflected in my ba97 record. The only problem is that I can't edit anything in my flight record any more. It seems that the ' character is stuffing everything up. An examination of the Javascript error log shows this. I've tried to "intercept" the error using Firebug for Firefox, with no avail. I think the error effectively stuffs up some of the data structures (e.g. the document.forms[] is not initialised).

Using another browser does not get around the problem. Nor can I fiddle with the adding function to overwrite the faulty flight. I've tried some similar SQL tricks whilst trying to add a flight, with no success.

If I knew the .asp code (i.e. diary.asp) then that might be easy to do some deduction, esp. the SQL query code. But of course .asp files are processed server-side before delivery, so no joy to get the source code....

I've emailed the ba97.com admin; not sure if I'll ever get a response.

Anyone got any other ideas? (Apart from abandoning the old account, starting a new one, then reentering all the flights).

SQL 101 -do not permit the use of characters such a '!

Is the problem with the one flight or your whole diary?

Can you delete the record?

Of course it's really obvious you should have simply entered SWM. :p

SQL does allow such characters when escaped properly (although on thedatabases I use it is a double apostrophe ''). But \ is also a Javascript escape code!

You wouldn't be very popular with someone named O'Brien. :) They always popped that one up on us in final year IT design project.

Anyway, the admins from ba97 got back to me and deleted the offending entry. So profile is back to its springy self with nary a loss. And apparently the ba97 people are looking into the issue.

Lucky this issue has been resolved as it was starting to look like you guys had settled 'On a Topic' which of course would be inappropriate here :!:
