Drinks are on again in Brisbane on Wednesday 26 November. The venue is the Mill Hotel & Restaurant. It is located on Wickham Terrace, on the corner of Bartley St, next to Brisbane Private Hospital, opposite the old Tower Mill and ~100 metres from Jacobs Ladder.

Sorry guys, will be in PER, but will try and make the next one

Then again, I was in a situation once where I had five exams to sit (I was doing five subjects that semester). The first four were sat within five days. Then I had to go to Gladstone for a conference, only to return four days later to sit the last exam the next day. (No way I was flying from Gladstone then sitting the exam the same day, even if it was in the evening.) All of them were difficult. :( But I survived (didn't fail anything).

Someone's been to my home town other than me!

I've stayed in gladstone-twice.Even went as far as drinking Gladstone wine.

Should be good from my end.

Unless it's going to bucket down in similar fashion as the last few days has exceedingly demonstrated.

I'll be in Cairns in a couple of weeks for a few days.

Anywhere that is ok to go for dinner or drinks, I will be be by myself and don't want to look out of place...

The last few nights in Brisbane is the worst weather I have ever experienced. Well almost if you count the 39 days/nights on a ship many years ago....

We had another 38mm dumped in 20 mins last night, taking our total rain since Sunday to around 240mm. Stay tuned for some more wild weather over the weekend!

I've been there for fuel once or twice in the past. Not recently though.

Strange that you would, given that it's quite a way off the Bruce Highway. I grew up there. Very few intentions of returning, although every time I head up there, the family friends still ask me if I would consider doing so - they're always short of anaesthetists at the local Gladstone Base Hospital!

That's not that Gecko place near the Botanic Gardens, is it? That started after I left - went back just after they opened and they were blending other people's grapes (still hadn't grown their own at that time).

Was it awful?

It certainly was the Gecko place.I wouldnt call it good but by no means awful.A good quaff at a barbie-but then there are a lot cheaper wines that fill that role very well.
You never know one day I might get to work there-the last 2 years spent as locum and traveller.I could live on mud crabs for a couple of weeks!I can even see another trip report-From Gladstone to a Game reserve.

bambbbam2,

When will you be there?

7 8 & 9 December..

Managed to avoid that *horrible* direct CNS-PER flight that leaves 1120 pm and arrives PER 0215 !! Seriously QF, why did we deserved to be punished with a flight like that?

That immortal line springs to mind-"because you've been a naughty little boy"

... or probably more likely because Qantas needs that aircraft in Perth for the morning flights and because enough people like being punished to make the flight viable.
