I thought from the numbers being bandied around, the Golf was about the only VW model that was [relatively] unscathed in the discerning customers* exodus from the dealers showroom floors.

*Discerning customer = someone who might want an automatic transmission, but definitely only wants a fully manual throttle.

Golf and Jetta are both 50% down.

How many manufacturers use a fully manual throttle these days? Very few. VW like mist others have used fly by wire throttles for years. I don't ever recall there being a problem with them either.,

Internode are an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) and use the Optus network, so if Optus isn't the right fit for you then Internode likely won't be either.

In the interests of full disclosure: Optus pay my bills. My role however doesn't have anything to do with the network, nor is it a public facing one so I'm not in a position to comment on any issues you may be experiencing there (sorry!).

So you can all appreciate why I've got no idea.

I go to this page:

Internode :: Residential :: ADSL Broadband :: Easy Naked :: Special

And to me it reads as ADSL2+ which I assume is a hard line????

I've entered the address i'm moving to, and it accepts it.

Can someone help - if Internode can do it, why cant optus?

Just paid for my new Re-Time order so with a bit of luck I am hoping to say goodbye to jetlag by retiming my body clock. It will be a soft start as next week is only an 8 hour time change.

And the Optus website now says it can service the new address.

Grrrr.

Good news, as for the previous question it's often due to port capacity, they put a DSLAM in and once full they won't add unless it makes sense, sometimes there is simply no room left to add more equipment.

We've got DST, so only 7 hours :D

So it is your fault my mobile broadband has poor quality in Sydney and recently constantly dropping out?

:p

Seriously Optus is kidding themselves if they think they are providing service. Unfortunately no alternative for me unless I want to pay double.

I'm an internode fan. I've been with them for years.

They may not be the cheapest company going around. Their tech support is excellent and they have heaps of unmetred content.

And now they say they can not and I need Telstra to install a phone line. Approx $300.

I give up.

Perhaps consider just why telstra is more expensive.

True.

To be honest though for me $130 for 17.25 GB is too expensive to start with so I cannot justify spending more.

Yes I know realibility must be worth something but I am not prepared to pay for it so I suffer in the process.

Am with Optus and due to living in the lee of a small hill, mobile reception is patchy - but fine if I stand on the top if my letterbox (it's a large solid brick one, but I can see the jokes formulating in your minds :D).

Hmmm…did the letterbox come with the phone or did you have to pay extra?

Indeed, it is not the greatest.

I am on Virgin (MVNO on Optus). I cannot complain for the price I pay ($19/mo, 2.25gb data, $450 of calls, unlimited virgin2virgin calls/text/mms and free voicemail). But if I were paying $60-$80 per month for the same I would be feeling a little ripped off.

Look in to other MVNOs such as Vaya and Amaysim, as well as Red Bull Mobile. You can usually get away with unlimited everything (excl intl) + 5gb or so of data for $30-$40 per month with them. There is also the prepaid WW $29/45 days cap which is good for 5gb of data (-10% with EDR too).

Back to my plan, the removal of the 10% VA credit-back hurt me a lot. Considering I am in Perth, it was not overly difficult to get 1.5-2 months of free mobile access with each return trip....sigh.

Aah. Great to be in the UK with the mobile phone and mobile data plans on offer...

So to get mobile reception you stand up on your letterbox in your PJs in winter! Had not thought of using that telephony method so I will pass that on to my friends who still have locked in plans with V and O.
On the smh web site front page is a story about Re-timer for a jet lag solution.

Yes, but never in my PJ's - any time of year. Don't want to scare the neighbours...
