Yep, younger (quite a few years too). And works in a similar profession to me. I think they had a very big helping hand with the house. Here I was offering them some second hand stuff for their kitchen etc only to find they were fully furnished with new and very nice stuff
Well my sister (younger, 2 years) did dentistry rather than specifically follow her heart or what not. But she does have her own place and well set up for herself. The folks did try to give her lots of things, but she ended up buying mostly all new stuff herself: bed, dresser, appliances...
Only thing I have on her is that I've seen more of the world. If that is something worth being proud of.
I don't think it's restricted to Asian youth. Something like the Asiana crash could be reason enough for the crew (hope not!).
Agreed, and I did think about that.
Japan and Korea are very much set in that way - a "death before dishonor" code. It's kind of dropping off but still relatively strong (especially as people get old). In Japan, suicide can occur from the student who failed their uni entrance exam, to the old CEO who failed to successfully guide their company.
A common suicide method in Japan is jumping in front of a train. The Japanese have tried to combat this by enforcing that the family of the dead must be responsible for the damage.
