Despite a damp night, drinks were on. JohnK and Mal proceeded first, whilst I came a little later to join them.

A slightly tamer meeting than usual given the density of Dos (or mini-Dos?) this week, plus Mal was still claiming jet lag.

Yep, drinks started at 5:30pm and were over by 8:30pm. We had a quorum of beers and people, but as indicated it was pretty tame.

Jetlag is gone now and my sleep patterns have returned to normal. Now I'll start blaming work stress and overwork as the cause of any early departures!

JohnK, I am highly unlikely to be able to attend this afternoon :(, as mentioned last night.
Sorry I forgot to reply to this last night but I am still having issues on my laptop posting to AFF.

Drinks went well with Mal, Anat0l and myself present. I did remember to have a Tooheys New for you. We had an early night, before 9:00pm, and it was decided that there will be another Brisbane drinks night before Christmas on Wednesday 17 December 2008. Everybody is welcome.

Hmmm. I fly in that afternoon for the ANZ AGM the next day. I'd certainly be interested in putting faces to some of the people I've been reading over a few beers.

Richard.

Are you in ADL this weekend? We do have a cohort of people doing a few things

I should be in attendance for the one in December;

I think Beer is the worst thing to try and cure Jetlag. I will probably recover tomorrow currently in Texas only to go home and have to go through the whole jetlag process again next week. At least its light at 4am in the morning, this might be a bad thing or a good thing.

I am, and I had been following that thread in case I could fit in some of the activities - but unfortunately I'm tied up all weekend :(.

(and no, its not the cricket)

Is it just me, or are flights taking longer and longer to post onto QFF accounts?

Seems like, many moons ago, one could be on a flight and within hours (and when I say 'hours' I mean that of which could be counted with the fingers on one's hand) the points and status credits are put into the account.

Now, it seems to take 1-4 days before points get credited - and no I am not talking about other ow carrier flights or ow-codeshares on QF metal. I am talking about QF metal with QF flight number.

Has anyone discovered this? Is there possibly a reason (real or proposed theory)? Or am I a black sheep in this?

Is it just me, or are flights taking longer and longer to post onto QFF accounts?

Poor sample size from me, but yes I agree. 2-3 days on some flights, yet still nearly instantaneous for others. I'd suspect it's an artifact of the new Amadeus system Qantas implemented.

It really does vary, on Nov 21/22 my four flights ALL had posted within 1 or 3 hours of arrival ...

... I cannot recall any in the last few months have taken more than about 1½ days to post.

Baa baa...

I have had the same experience and thoughts anat0l. Most of my flights in the past couple of months have ben taking similar timeframes.

Just means I've been logging into Qantas site more than usual...

Last nights flight was on my QFF account this morning although Friday nights flight has not yet posted. I put in an online request for SCs and QFF points.

I have noticed in the past few months that it can take up to 2 days for some of the domestic flights to post.

Some silly and survey questions (just to kick this thread around)

Random, probably silly questions, to fill up some posting space here. Some are 'survey' like questions. I just didn't want to post them in the "silly questions" thread.

Feel free to answer any or all.

  1. Tea, coffee or neither? If something, how do you have it?
  2. "You're saying that my checked baggage is 15 kg and my carry-on is 12 kg and you're telling me I have to transfer 5 kg out of my carry-on into my checked baggage?? What's the difference? It's all going on the same plane and it's all the same weight!"

An oft spouted remark, especially from my dad. Discuss and debate.
  3. Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo, Reykjavik.
Rank them in priority order of visiting (from most desired to visit down to least desired to visit).
  4. LHR {T1, T2, T3, T4, T5} ; LGW {South, North} ; LCY ; LTN ; STN.
Of all of those, which have you visited?
  5. What is your favourite airline which is not a main member of any of the three major global alliances (i.e. Sky Team, Star Alliance or oneworld)?
  6. For a free Economy ticket good for domestic travel up to 1200 miles, would you be an FA for a flight in the SYD/MEL/BNE triangle?
  7. Why are flights to/from MEL always turbulent?
  8. Have you been to AVV? If so, why did you do it?
  9. Have you ever been on a now-retired JQ Boeing 717?
  10. What is your standard breakfast from the Domestic QP breakfast offering? (Note this is the standard "lowly" QP, not the JL)

In answer to Q2, it's because if a 12kg bag falls on someone it's obviously going to be a lot worse than a 7kg one.....

Q10. Muesli and a bit of fruit.

1. Coffee, white, no sugar
2. Getting sconed by 7 kg of baggage falling out of a locker is preferable to getting sconed by 12 kg.
5. Malaysia Airlines
6. No
7. Never found it better or worse than other airports. Summer nights with a fresh easterly spilling over the scarp and across Perth Airport makes for some bumpy rides!
8. Driven past it, on the way to the Great Ocean Road
9. No
