Re: Some silly and survey questions (just to kick this thread around)

Random, probably silly questions, to fill up some posting space here. Some are 'survey' like questions. I just didn't want to post them in the "silly questions" thread.

Feel free to answer any or all.

  1. Tea, coffee or neither? If something, how do you have it?
  2. "You're saying that my checked baggage is 15 kg and my carry-on is 12 kg and you're telling me I have to transfer 5 kg out of my carry-on into my checked baggage?? What's the difference? It's all going on the same plane and it's all the same weight!"

An oft spouted remark, especially from my dad. Discuss and debate.
  3. Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo, Reykjavik.
Rank them in priority order of visiting (from most desired to visit down to least desired to visit).
  4. LHR {T1, T2, T3, T4, T5} ; LGW {South, North} ; LCY ; LTN ; STN.
Of all of those, which have you visited?
  5. What is your favourite airline which is not a main member of any of the three major global alliances (i.e. Sky Team, Star Alliance or oneworld)?
  6. For a free Economy ticket good for domestic travel up to 1200 miles, would you be an FA for a flight in the SYD/MEL/BNE triangle?
  7. Why are flights to/from MEL always turbulent?
  8. Have you been to AVV? If so, why did you do it?
  9. Have you ever been on a now-retired JQ Boeing 717?
  10. What is your standard breakfast from the Domestic QP breakfast offering? (Note this is the standard "lowly" QP, not the JL)

1. Neither
2. Carry-on should be not be allowed. Only checked luggage.
3. Reykjavik, Copenhagen, Stockholm (possibly), Oslo (possibly but too expensive), Helsinki (have been and way too expensive)
4. LHR {T2, T4}
5. Virgin Blue
6. Yes
7. No comnent!
8. Not in this life time!
9. Yes. Specifically looked for these flights when travelling on a round Australia award in March 2007. Comfortable aircraft with good pitch in economy.
10. Yoghurt.

  • Domestic:
    • J0 D0 Y4 V4 T4 S4 R4 Q4 O4 N4 M4 L4 K4 H4 E0 C0
  • International:
    • J4 D0 Y4 V4 T4 S4 R4 Q4 O4 N4 M4 L4 K4 H4 E0 C0

So which codes corresponds to which classes? And the order of those codes in increasing order of bucket cost?

EF doesn't help in this regard.

I'm assuming J means Star Class, but the inventory level is surely greater than 4 here......

Y is probably part of the JetFlex group; logically, I guess then that K and H could also be JetFlex (as they are the "Full Economy" buckets on QF mainline).

The rest must be JetSaver fares (no distinction for JetSaver Light), in order of O, Q, N, S, L, V, M...

Can't explain R or T and they appear in both lists.....

I have a question. Flying SYD>LA leave Syd 1pm, arrive LA ~9am. I want to have the best views of the city, but would prefer not having the sun in my eyes. Would you rather sit on the left or right side of the plane?

Amex thread is about to hit 3500 posts and an amazing 200,000 views (>196,000 at the moment, and the buzz has really started up again in that thread in the last few days).

In the face of Amex imperialism, I cannot believe this thread is being neglected:!:

It wouls depend entirely upon which runway was in use at the time :!: :)

Another unexpected, some may say expected, fireworks display in Brisbane right now. I will be soaked by the time I get to my room....

They're predicting a huge storm season for Brisbane this year - so get used to it!

While the words don't properly fit, it does remind me of:

"Out on the patio we’d sit,
And the humidity we’d breathe,
We’d watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think that this is Australia."

1. Tea with milk no sugar.
2. You wouldn't want the 12kg bag to fall on your head, and why not make the baggage handlers do more of their own work.
3. All of the above; I don't have a least desired place to visit out of those cities. Copenhagen first though, everything else equal 2nd.
4. LHR 1,3,4,5, LGW North and LGW South.

It would be a lot easier if the storms arrived at the same time each day. I can then plan my day and make sure I am inside away from the storm. ;)
