All good. Found somewhere that was open today to have a new tyre fitted. Was told based on the cracking I was very close to the tyre failing, all it would have needed was to warm up... Not as expensive as I'd feared either, downside of a car fitted with "performance" tyres...
All is well that ends well. :)

I can't win. Hire car rear ended by some stupid young girl. Did I mention how much I hate Adelaide drivers.

Still we were in a massive traffic jam because the police had closed main south road because of an accident. So well glad we weren't in that accident. As it must have been extremely bad.

So you have now had two accidents with the same hire car?

Geez... Adelaide probably wasn't the first place in Australia I would've thought to have had the worst drivers in it. Guess I was wrong.

Might also be positively correlated with the increasing crime rate.

It was. I went past a few minutes after it happened and emergency services were scrambling to deal with the poor guy who unfortunately died. Looks like he had a medical condition and crossed onto the other side of the road.

I love Adelaide drivers too ... I have been rear ended twice since March last year and the one in April this year the silly girl didn't even brake so absolutely hammered me. cough roads with cough drivers here.

The drivers at my local gym in Melbourne are pretty bad; I've been rear ended and reversed into. Apparently a bright red car is hard to see

Thumbs up to the FA who asked the idiot pax next to me to pick his newspapers up off the floor before landing (exit row).

Thumbs down to the idiot pax - lose the bad attitude when the FA asked you (and you shouldn't have put it there anyway) - dude, you're in the exit row, don't need people struggling to get out over your mess.

I have a VW Amarok ... You can't lose one of those like its a set of keys so I have no idea how people don't see me

Nah. One accident in the hire car and one in my car. Classic comment from the stupid girl today when told of the $3200 excess she said "that's the risk you take when you hire a car." My retort "No, that's the risk you take when you drive into the back of someone."

I'm surprised she didn't blame me for stopping before entering a blocked round about.

Anyway, we're very lucky because we were supposed to be on the other road where someone died in an accident, at about the same time. Luckily delayed and also took the wrong turn. All I stand to lose is money.

Have you ever seen the mess the J Pax distribute to the floor after departing? Manners.. Not

I thanked the FA for making him pick it up from the exit row.

I'm not sure why ( some) pax treat the floor of an aircraft as a garbage bin. Do they do this at home?

I suspect his iPhone also wasn't off given how quickly it was active on landing. I had thought he'd turned it off but I was reading and didn't really look pre-takeoff.

I've got a bit of down time. In the mealroom, I thought Last Watch was on. I thought "That's on TV quick, I only saw it while I was flying to LAX in January."

Turns out the show is actually a series called Southland.

I think most iPhone users don't know how to actually turn their phone off.

They think pressing the power button so the screen goes black (and the clicking sound) is "turning off" the device.

Press and hold the button on the top until you get a slider with 'slide to power off'. Slide, and you are powered off.

Somehow, I have even lost battery with the phone being off in the past, even to the point that the phone is empty.

Some treehugger decided that their tree should go for a train ride & then left some of the tree behind.

You cannot power off an iPhone or anything with a soft switch, you just reduce it to a greater state of hibernation but it will still be powered, just at a level where it unlikely to be radiating much.
