What a pity she needed the cork as well. ;)

Indeed. And she even took the cork when she left. Lol.

(To avoid confusion.. She opened the wine bottle on my doorstep and handed back the corkscrew then as an after thought suggested she should take the cork with her! ).

Next she'll be back to borrow some milk or a cup of sugar. :)

I wouldn't mind.... But I think she cooled her enthusiasm towards me when she realised I wasn't the owner of the flat... (She just bought her flat and likely has a 400k £ + mortgage... I saw what it was advertised at ). She has apparently met my flatmate previously and assumed I owned the place. Lol. (He is 5 years younger and owns the place).
It amazes me how some people assume because you rent it is a bad thing. As society has drilled into people multiple times... Never judge someone by their apparent status. You really are set to fail.

It's an old prejudice and it's really not going away any time soon.

Not only does it manifest as social prejudice, but in professional ways as well. For example, when passing an assets test for a bank application or the like.

The irony is that in many Western societies it is becoming somewhat more or less line ball to rent rather than buy, unless you can afford to keep the equity in your bought house for a long time (e.g. by living a very long time there, and/or renting it out but not selling it before the nominal "break even" with renting).

And let's face it: when it comes to dating or the like, you won't rub out that judgement factor any time soon.

Flew Jetstar Bali to Singapore yesterday. Arrived on time which was excellent. We also ordered a meal, which was horrible. It smelt dreadful. Took one mouthful and left it. Oh well, at least it didn't make me sick. Currently staying in a shophouse suite at the Intercontinental. Which is gorgeous but rather unusual. The suites face into a mall which thankfully shuts at 10pm. Today is Singapore's National Day. Parades, flyovers and fireworks. Really looking forward to it. Weather sunny and clear. And hot. Did I mention there is an amazing Sephora shop in the mall? Ladies here will know what that means. ;)

Plan on clearing out the creme brulees at QP tomorrow night.

Neighbours are fun.... luckily the only neighbour I know is a cute late 20s girl who randomly knocked on my door recently asking for a corkscrew!

You need to look out when they ask for star anise ;)

Suggestions please clever people:

Have 2 new identical products launching on Oz market in 3 weeks - only diff between 2 products is colour. One is DARK BLUE - we are calling this MIDNIGHT BLUE - the other is WHITE - bit reluctant to go with VIRGINAL WHITE - and just plain old WHITE too boring - suggestions please

What about the following: Tundra White, Igloo White, Saphire White, Opel White?

I am sure you get used to it. No wonder you don't spend much time at home! ;)

My perfect roster would be 3 on 4 off (or even 4 on 3 off) aligned to weekends. I could do it right now at my current job but it defeats the purpose of the commute.

When I worked in the Petrochemical Industry, week one you worked only Wed & Thurs, every other day off. Week two you had Wed & Thurs off, worked every other day so a fortnight turnaround = 7 on, 7 off.
Best job I ever had, shame it only lasted 13.5 years.

This just popped up in my twitter feed, terrible stat:

Every Year 12 class in Australia has at least one student who has attempted suicide - early intervention is vital

I wonder if that is through academic pressure, peer pressure or bullying (including cyber bullying)?

I hate neighbours. Even now in Sydney neighbours either side are nutcases.

I would love to have neighbours like your cute late 20s girl who come randomly knocking on my door. ;)

I wonder with the media generally having a policy of not reporting suicides to prevent copy cats whether it is actually doing the opposite.

Hope you are enjoying the patriotic Singapore fanfare.. I don't envy the Jetstar flight, though the IC Shophouse rooms in SIN are quite nice, though IME can be a tad noisy in the city midst.

I heard recently there are some of those lovely types in Prague.. Job location transfer?

You want my job. It's 4 on 3 off.

I wouldnt have the qualifications for your job. ;)

My job is almost 4 on 3 off. Only restriction is I have to make an appearance on Friday. Even if it is only for an hour.

I think the figures are very understated. 150 people v train fatalities in 2011 across Australia - that figure seems very low. And that's only ones involving trains - there are many many more out there.
