Amazing what sitting in an airport can do for you

I now know exactly how to fix a remote alarm in a milking machine courtesy of the guy opposite me in teh T2 QP (as do all teh people in a 5 m radius)

In my last visit to the T2 QP before it shuts next week , this is the first time any of the people behind the bar have smiled or tried to be nice!

My thoughts are with everyone with sickness in the family

statistics are very scary things!

some almost on topic stuff!

Just got off the 'phone with Telstra, to get 2x $15 late fees reversed. They did in the end as my argument was: How can you charge me a late fee for a bill you didn't send me?

So nothing has changed since I left them 6 years ago ;)

Went & saw mum in the hospital before work. Depending on how her scans went today, she could be home Saturday or Sunday.

The neurosurgeon is happy with her progress. He thinks he knows what happened & how to treat it but he is waiting for the scans to confirm things.

Population Health is about disease prevention strategies etc and their application to the community in general I believe!

I'm a mere medical civilian but I would not have thought that a facility like this would need to be located on hospital grounds.

But doctors are concerned about individual health more than large scale population health, in general.

I'm thinking about my Melbourne trip on 20 - 27th August. I'm doing a status run/day trip to Darwin on my birthday (22nd) so I'm wondering if I should get a place near the airport until the 23rd then go into the CBD. Or do I stay in the CBD the whole time & Skybus to/from Tulla twice?

So many overheards on that last train that I was passengering on. There was so little time to record them all.

Highlights include monks on trains, old Asian hats, being late for work, hairy female stomachs, how single people meet each other & that $8 singlets are OK to wear.

Any thoughts on what to get as a token of appreciation to my referees that gave me a great review when I applied for a role?

Not being based in oz seemingly rules out gift cards etc but I think they are a bit tacky anyway. Both are male so flowers don't work either... And booze isn't really appropriate too.

Can you take them out to a dinner with a view like at Strada near London Bridge and get them facing the lovely evening view from an upstairs window?
It doesn't have to be expensive to have these 2 men know you won't let them down.
The big risk of being a referee is that they support a person who does not deserve that support.

Mighty expensive to fly them from oz over here ;)

Yeah I'm just looking for something small. A token to say thanks and that I appreciated their assistance.
