A snail mail letter thanking them is something that works.
In a world of electronic everything send them an old fashioned thank you with a couple of pictures seeing they are many miles away.
Most of us have to deal with skimming through emails in big quantities so a snail mail letter thanking them is always nice if you know their home address.

Have you seen my writing? A doctor writes more legibly. Lmao.

Yeah I agree its a good way. Do want to send something as well... And well everything I can think of just seems naff.

On Thursday evening I flew to ADL in J. Yesterday I returned in Y.

Both flights were at dinner time and the Y meal was nicer than J!

Mighty expensive to fly them from oz over here ;)

Yeah I'm just looking for something small. A token to say thanks and that I appreciated their assistance.

Transfer some FF points to their A/c :)

QF743? If so which seat? Salmon or beef?

I think J meals are more consistent whereas y meals can be really good or really bad.

Yay... If I want my work email on my android I have to encrypt it. Not really that annoying but I have been avoiding it as a 6 number pass code isn't valid for encryption. Need to add in some letters and that stuffs up simple unlocking.

I'm thinking about my Melbourne trip on 20 - 27th August. I'm doing a status run/day trip to Darwin on my birthday (22nd) so I'm wondering if I should get a place near the airport until the 23rd then go into the CBD. Or do I stay in the CBD the whole time & Skybus to/from Tulla twice?
I would stay in the CBD the whole time, as you only need to unpack once. Buy a MYKI card at the airport or Southern Cross stn, and then the city is your oyster. You may also be able to get cheaper/nicer accom than the PR or HI at MEL.

So which night is drinks? ;)

I had Vego meals

That's likely why.

And this is not criticising your choice, because you may not have one. But I feel for vegetarians (or anyone with special meal needs) when they fly as their meals do not tend to be done to the same standard as the standard offering.

In premium classes this is magnified because there is a higher expectation already without the airlines not being able to do a good job as it is.

I assume you were offered a salad or pie in J. Not sure about Y, but in years gone by the vego dinner was either lentil curry or moussaka. Or the horrid standard offering of penne pasta with tomato sauce and boiled brocolli.

Recently it has been a roasted vegetable sandwich (lunch) or some mush with rice (dinner). But I think we are getting a bit OT here. ;)

Meh :)

I have to admit they served a vegetarian tomato, cheese and roasted vegetable panini in Y as a pre-landing snack on SYD/SIN when I flew QF. First I don't know how they got the toasty effect on it without a toaster. But more importantly it tasted delicious. Tasted like a good mini pizza.

My choice of food if I were a vegetarian would be pasta. There's many good takes on pasta suitable for vegos and are tasty. Unfortunately I haven't seen many of them served on board.

Any thoughts on what to get as a token of appreciation to my referees that gave me a great review when I applied for a role?

Not being based in oz seemingly rules out gift cards etc but I think they are a bit tacky anyway. Both are male so flowers don't work either... And booze isn't really appropriate too.

generally speaking, giving a gift to a referee is not required or expected. a note, either handwritten or by email is sufficient, thanking them for their time and more importantly, giving them an update on whether or it you were successful for the position.

your referees already support your cause, so you getting the job will be part if their 'reward'.

perhaps if you really want to give something, then a book. maybe a book in their field but from where you are based... for example if your referees worked for Sydney Rail you might send them a book on the London Underground (etc)

Better type your thank you note to your referees if your handwriting is as good as you say Mal.
Chocolates with your note would work.

I don't think they would know what to do with them... Seriously.

Then it's simple: send them an email thanking them, with a link to AFF and an invitation to join us. The gift that keeps on giving, and its priceless! ;)

That depends on what night/s you're free! ;)

I arrive on VA858 on the 20th into MEL at 1735. I know I'm flying late into MEL from DRW on the 22nd & you're doing the SIN Flounge run (24th?).

I think I will get something in the CBD. I will only be using the room for eating, sleeping & maybe to make a little fort.

Sounds like a trick question, I've seen the first two so it must be you, Cruiser Elite. ;)

Can't use the tickets but now I've made it easier for someone else to win them. :)

When we have a drinks do in MEL the person with the hotel room hosts the after party event. ;)

Let us know when you're in town and we'll see if we can meet up.
