Indeed. Politics really. They are still about... Just not posting here but posting somewhere else. There is a lot of back story to it.

Their respective last posts are a month apart though. I would have thought two different reasons given that, but based on what you say, seems some whirlwind engulfed them both...

Well I reiterate that is a pity; there is a such wealth of knowledge available from old hands who are very willing to give the rest of us advice and info, which we all benefit from. Poop to politics!

As a general comment to all concerned I'm not sure the speculation should continue, given at least one of them is unable to comment about reasons. In any case the reasons are complex and go back a long way into history. Anyone who knows a even a small part of the history are not going to explain (I'd call it gossip) about the reasons. So best to accept that people move on and leave it at that. Both are still flying and contactable.

They all have their reasons. I can think of at least a handful of posters who have well over 1,000 posts each who no longer post.

Bad day/afternoon/evening at my Place of Employment. 3 separate person v train incidents & a broken down freight train.

Lucky for me, I was at home.

Back to work Monday afternoon.

Hard to believe this time last week I was in Melbourne..

Problem is public transport seems to be a popular way for suicides, a similar number of incidents occur with buses in Brisbane although the cause is more likely stupidity rather than intentional death.

Currently at Euston london. All trains cancelled due to person vs train near Wembley. Always a horrible situation.

As I said to a colleague early this morning, I hope that the crews concerned are OK & that they don't celebrate Fathers Day like I don't. Imagine someone who would have rather been home with their family but they had to go to work & then that happened. Every Fathers Day from now on is now a reminder of what happened yesterday.

You can get told what to do, you can mentally prepare but until it happens to you, who really knows what will happen.

For somewhat obvious reasons, these incidents probably won't get reported in the media. But if 3 people died in Sydney in traffic crashes, you bet it would be.

We have to attend these incidents. Not pleasant, but certainly worse for the family and the train driver.

When I lived in Sydney, one of my neighbours was a train driver. After his third fatal he stopped driving and was given an office job.
Having been made redundant I was thinking of a total career change and train driver was one option I considered. I was soon talked out of it. I think that drivers of trains, busses, trucks etc are sometimes the forgotten victims in these tragic incidents.

On a brighter note I spent fathers day doing things as a thank you to my son in law.
He is after all the father of my granddaughter.

My daughter made us all a fabulous lunch (Mrs Buzzard included) which we washed down with a couple of nice wines before Mrs B & I headed back to Adelaide.

I think I'd consider it the day when you don't have to run around making breakfast for, providing lunch or dinner for, your parents. I don't begrudge this, but after mutterings from my husband who dislikes that Father's day ends up with running around to see his Dad, my Dad (and luckily for him, not usually my step-father as well!), he doesn't feel like it's still "his" day. I've tended to either be out of the country (with or without my child and spouse) or leaving the country on QF15 for most of the past 5 or so Mother's days. I've suggested to Mr Katie that maybe he'd like to leave the country for Father's day, so it can be all about him. Hopefully we can make it up to him for his birthday next week!

I am meant to be going for a run tomorrow but the temptation is their to just sleep in.

I will see how I feel tomorrow at 4:30am(2:30am) Perth time.

Well I got up at 4:30am Brisbane time and went for a 10km run.

Finished in a time of 1 hour 5 minutes and 11secs, slower than last years sub 60 minute time. Finished 10,283 out of 24,596 finishes.

I personally think mothers day and fathers day is a load of cough - and valentines day is the worst offender. Everyday should be those days.

I also particularly hate it when people try to put me on a guilt trip when I say its a load of cough too.."aww but its a reminder about the people that you love".. I don't need no cheesy Merchants event/reminder for that thank you very much and I think a token day for that kind of defeats the purpose

I noticed yesterday on Facebook that some people were using it as a defacto Mothers Day for single mums.

I was brought up in a single parent household but despite that, I don't see why people need to hijack days for other purposes.

I hate VD with a passion because I'm usually single that day. To avoid the lovesick couples, I don't leave the house that day unless I have to work. One year, I thought I'd book my car in for a service to avoid lovesick couples. Nope, couldn't avoid it there either.

As an aside, VD is my anniversary of being on the railways. Next year is 20 years. Easily the most demanding mistress I've ever had!
