Princess Fiona, until both sides of any story is known, then it's only conjecture as to what the doctors/nurses did in any of these situations (or whether the patients/family story matches the facts as noted in the patient notes/chart). Some may show lack of procedural maintainance, but others will have levels of culpability on both sides.

A lot to be said for private health insurance ;)

If you are worried by Aussie hospitals don't come to Canada. One of the main items here at the moment is about a ~30s year old fellow taken to emergency and triaged.34 hours later he was found dead in the waiting room.

How very sad, to say the least.

Not sure if anyone has linked the story but there was an bit online with the SMH that included comments apparently from the triage nurse's husband. That says that at one stage they were resus-ing (whatever the technical term is) two patients in the ED. There were ambulances lining up outside with drop offs. The triage nurse made multiple checks on progress, and gave pain medication of some sort. And apparently offered to let the mother inside to see how busy it was.

Not operating until 2 weeks later = not urgent IMO.

Problem is, not a lot of private facilities have Emergency departments.

I know that during my recent experience, a lot of the time in the ED was either monitoring, collecting obs or waiting for a space in the ward. To my untrained eye, the Emergency department is in many cases being used in an attempt for an express entry into hospital. I'm no doctor nor have I played on on TV. Hindsight's a wonderful thing as is knowing both sides of the story. But I wonder if the "Won't Somebody Think Of The Children?" factor as well as social media has come into play with this case.

Excuse me for a moment while I run around the backyard hyperventilating....

You've been wonderful & I'm Gold, man!

Apologies to any AFF'ers on QF404 today, it was me that took up all the overhead locker space. ;)

Mrs Buzzard & I flying into SYD early tomorrow (returning Sunday) for another weekend of baby sitting. Daughter wants to take hubby away for the weekend to give him his "fathers day gift"

This grandparenting gig is costing us a small fortune.

Just hope there is no track work planned for this weekend otherwise getting to/from the Blue Mountains will be a nightmare. erkpod?
I told the newlyweds they should have stayed at Abbotsford.

Nope, you're good!

Actually, trackwork buses have improved a lot over the years. They used to run between point A & point B, stopping all stations. And that was it.

Now there's a range of all stations, semi express & express services. On longer distance services, there's also coaches rather than commuter buses (which have also improved).

The good about a 3:55pm Friday afternoon flight delayed 10-15 minutes is a good case to request complimentary alcohol as it is now a 4:00pm+ departure.

Worked last time. ;) See if it works today. :p

I have tried in the past and have been unsuccessful. I hope you defy the odds!

It really did work last time. Now close to original departure and still no sign of boarding.

When I walk on board I say something like "I guess this is a now a 4:00pm departure?" ;) And they have agreed with me.

If you were a footballer & had the surname Roughead, you'd want to change your name wouldn't you?

Good way to start a beautiful QLD Saturday. 20 degrees, coffee and scanner in hand, sleeping bubba and a park at the end of 32. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1377900548.263748.jpg

One of the many things I do when I'm not flying or driving you from point A to point B.
