Won some tickets in a comp and sold them on Ebay. Now the buyer says they didn't receive them! They reported it Ebay, paypal is holding my payment. Arrrrr

Is it worth reporting it to Police? I will be at the concert so I could actually go to the seats and see who is sitting there.

I'm not sure the police would be all that interested. Scalping isn't exactly regarded all that highly. I'd be reporting it to Australia Post though but they are pretty much on go slow these days.

I sold under cost price, so I think technically that is not scalping. I sent in a email to Auspost but the concert is tomorrow.

Just wonder if the buyer is having me on.

Edit: I sent with Auspost with a tracking number but not registered.

Send paypal the tracking details.

See if you call the promoter and cancel the tickets. That way they cannot get in.

You'll soon find out if they try to attend.

I gave paypal the tracking number. Might be useless as it seems paypal tends to side with the buyer.

Yeah I thought about that. Preferably I would like the dishonest person to be caught red handed.

What are the T & C's of original purchase? Can they be re-sold? You might end up screwed anyway?

I had 2 spare tickets to an AFL final years ago as I friend had a car accident on the way over from SA and did not make it - I took them to the G and watched til I saw a guy clearly trying to buy tickets and offered them to him at face value.

Turned out the dude was an undercover cop trying to trap scalpers - they still confiscated the tickets and charged me with 'scalping'! Scalping! - at face value - WTF - give me a break.

I did have to front up at court and explained situation to Magistrate - had Stat Dec from guy who had accident / copy of police report of accident - Magistrate threw it out in like 5 secs and gave the Police who were there in numbers to prosecute me a right royal dressing down about wasting court time on case where genuine person was 'trapped' in these circumstances.

Didn't help me - I lost the value of the tix - wasted hours preparing and attending court but I was not boing to let those pr*cks win that one.

For the sake of $3.50 (cost of registered) a tough lesson learned. Hope you do get a good resolution though.
What does the track advice state? Delivered? In transit? Awaiting collection? You might be able to put a claim in with Post and at their discretion they can compensate you up to $50.

I haven't sold anything prior on ebay, so I thought express post included registration, oh well I didn't buy it, so just the cost of posting lost. Which I think can be claimed back.
The track advice shows it was shipped to the suburb it was intended.
I don't think paypal will be kind to me either.

The track advice should show a status. PM me the track advice number if you like and I can PM you back the status.

Don't give up - my son sold a product that was disputed by the buyer and paypal sided with him.

I would be taking a look at the seats too! I wouldn't cancel them though....

Yikes, that's an awful story.

I already contacted auspost and of course they claim they can't do anything. It got to somewhere but who knows where it went, however I suspect one of the other townhouses on their block might have received it.

I already found pictures of the buyer and her family. Told her I will be going to see who is sitting there, take pictures and make a police report!

Yikes, the internet is a scary place. I still don't think a police report will do anything for you though - it is essentially a civil matter. And one that is a little smudgy anyway. Good luck with it all and hope you get your money.

I would suggest notifying the ticket provider that you have lost the tickets, and next time you sell something use registered post or e parcel, which are the two postal methods Paypal say POD is acceptable.

Someone treating a certain someone to a concert that they thought was free thanks to their deception deserve to have some disappointment in their lives IMHO.

I think I'd let the buyer know that the tickets were about to be cancelled and then see if they suddenly get delivered after all. If they were legit then they wouldn't care if they were cancelled. If they really did get the tickets then their ruse would be flushed out.

Couldnt be bothered putting a new DJ topic /searching, BUT:

Who else knows of a weird rule with the DJ amex card that you are NOT allowed to pay (deposit) more then what's owing onto your card?

Example:

A) Credit limit is $5,000
B) Balance owing is $1,000, but you decide to deposit $2,000; so you can get a better tv (ie: $6,000 cost).

Short version: a transaction got rejected today, cause I paid kore then I should!...

It was fixed after I rang them though :)
