Sydney is an absolute hole with no social life what so ever. Finished up work last night at 10pm. Bloody kitchen closed in my usual eating establishment. What kind of city shuts at 10pm? A hole of a city.

Should be a handful of places around to grab a bite. No, I'm not talking about McDonalds.

On the other hand, methinks you're trying to pick a bone (pun intended). :p

Good job you were not in Brisbane, where the whole city, not just the kitchens, shut down by 7pm on a Monday.

We know that's not true. Still the point remains Sydney does not open 24/7 when I want it open therefore it must be a 'hole with zero social life.

So you understand how ludicrous your pronouncements about Brisbane sound, now?

No. Brisbane is still a dump.

By the way I said nothing about you thinking Sydney is a hole. You are entitled to an opinion.

If I'm not mistaken, Woolworths Town Hall is open until 2359h every day.

I think that's pretty cool - you could not only grab something to eat (or something you can make up quickly to eat), but also some of the other things you need at home at the same time, almost no matter what time you finish work.

We only have one of those kinds of stores near the airport (open 24 hours), of all places (likely for the benefit of the last workers at the airport and the Novotel patrons).

Its not subject to restrictions on trade like all the other QLD woollies are.

I was laughing that even the locals joke about Brisbane's lack of nightlife.

It was a joke demonstrating how ludicrous your opinion happens to be; you're the one who claims it shuts at 7pm on Monday contrary to reality.

Yep that'd be pretty cool if I had a kitchen to use and wasn't looking to eat a hot meal prepared not by me.

;)

Felt a bit the same on Fri night after arriving at the Hilton. Little Miss ate a bread roll in the lounge in BNE, wouldn't touch the in-flight meal/snack (can't even remember what it was), so was hungry when we got into town.* So, we set off with Maccas as a back up, and happened to notice that Wagamama at Galleries was still open. We managed to walk in just before 10, and were able to order and get our meals fairly quickly. Had it been after 10, I'm sure we would have been having Maccas or Maccas/room service.

Those of us in the DPRV had food well into the evening... just sayin' :p

Reality is my experience. Most of Brisbane shuts down early weeknights. Fact not opinion.

Woolworths DFO only recently started operating 24 hours. Some Woolworths are open until 9:00pm but many close earlier.

Lunch in Brisbane starts early and finishes early. Same for dinner.

Those wooden houses are ugly and they are everywhere.

Brisbane is vastly inferior to Sydney in every way. About the only thing that I can give some credit to Brisbane are the Busways.
