Last time I heard the error beep, there was no op-up. The FA just had fed the BP the wrong way into the machine. :(

I've had a few beep op-ups, but a lot of my op-ups happen before the gate, viz. at check-in.

I've had 2 of those beeps recently. Seems that the gate scans can now do NFI, but tends to pick up the card twice if the FA isn't quick enough to remove the card. Second pick up causes the error beeps

Good day today!

The Bruce highway is chock-a-block with all the Brissos going home:D

* this is a joke and I know full well that our local economy depends on the money all tourist bring with them

Thank you Queensland Rail. I have used wi-fi for ~45 minutes on AFF and searching for some airfares.

Our best op up was on AA and we were already comfortable in our row 10 J seats. The gate agent appears followed by a young couple who could well have been on their honeymoon. She says drron I am afraid we will have to get you to move. You could see mrsdrron's blood pressure rising.I quickly settled her down as I could see the BPs in the agent's hand were for row 2.Yes our first trans Pacific flight in F.

I do not like (specialist) doctors who suggest that international travel is "stressful on these children" without actually validating if it is stressful on *my* child (who at 7yo is on her second passport, with 2 EU trips, 2 US mainland trips, 2 Hawaii, and 2 Asian trips under her belt).

Only one session, and we need to find a new specialist!!

We will never be done with T20 cricket. The scheduling continues to reduce traditional cricket for this abomination.

Indeed. I refuse to watch it and have never seen a match and never will. One day I like, tests I like.

I think T20 it will be the end of cricket in the way we know it, it will become English baseball, only full of gambling corruption from the sub-continent.

The one at the gate does not happen that often. Very rare.

These days when I hear the beep at the gate I make sure first it is not an op-downgrade as opposed to an op-up....

I was almost given one of those recently, where the FA at the gate stopped me, and then said I could go through. On questioning she said she was going to give me an exit row seat, but then saw I was J class. I agreed I'd rather stay with seat 2A.

In what way is this travel "stressful on these children"? As in she can't take it mentally? Is it physiologically draining / demanding / detrimental? Is it something to do with her eyes, limbs, or whatever this specialist specialises in?

To say your M is well travelled is to suggest the obvious; to say the least, she would likely travel more by herself if bestowed with the appropriate powers right now! :)

(I like referring to her as M - reminds me of the same name in the James Bond series ;) )

How do I gain 250000 to 300000 MH enrich miles in the next week?

Spend $50,000 on your American Express card? :p

Sorry, can't help you much there.

Witness to crime ;)

You should be helping him out of crime - he has a SWMBO, you don't :) :o

Katie I apologise on behalf of my profession.
Unfortunately many just live in their professional world and don't experience real life.
I have never understood why someone who is terminally ill is told they are medically unfit for travel.I always have believed that a person should be able to do what they will enjoy in that situation. And in my experience they seem to live longer as well as happier.

PS the terminally ill is not re your daughter just an illustration.

Specialist paediatrician, still going through testing, but it looks like she has a learning & development disorder (I think that's how it is categorised; am being a bit purposefully vague for now). Will probably require occ therapy (according to me & OTs i know) and perhaps medication. We'll see, and I'm still researching, as well as trying to find other specialists without 6mth waiting lists or who will answer their phones!

The last 5 minutes of our initial consult we were told both parents shouldn't be working full-time, after-school care is too stressful, international travel is too stressful, and most of his parents ultimately completely change their lifestyle and live in a hut in the bush (OK, i'm exaggerating, but he was talking about people moving into less stressful lifestyles). The work thing was like a punch to my guts, and I don't know if he thought he was helping, but everything then about travel, after-school care, going bush, etc, was just making it worse!! I don't think I cried when I took her to her first ophthamologist appt and was told she'd have at least 1, maybe 5 surgeries to try to fix her eyes!!

Thanks Dr Ron. No worries, I took your illustration the right way. Just some pretty big generalisations from a doctor, and maybe they're right for many of "these kids", but maybe my daughter isn't as severely affected? Or our cluelessness ro her condition has made all pf us develop mechanisms to deal with travel, and it's enough of a routine that we all cope.

My GP's father died of some form of heart disease/issues in the late 80s or early 90s. The patient was most disgusted when he was in hospital dying, he was still on the low fat meals recommended for his coronary issues.

Anyway, enough ranting about members of the medical profession. I have to get a grade 2er to school today!
