The totally off-topic thread

TBH, though I don't currently have A/C (been waiting till I tear down house and rebuild - for some time now I might add) I disagree. Most people spend maybe 50 to 60 percent of their time at home, so you may as well be comfortable when you are there. For me, that = having A/C. For others, maybe not - a personal preference I guess.
I'd love aircon, just need to convince the 'landlord' to install it.

Wasn't a golf thread set up to keep it away from the rest of us who have no interest? :)

That is extremely unfair. One off-topic thread is enough. I don't want to keep opening a different thread for each topic..

By the way it is quite easy to ignore posts that don't interest you.

Yeh, I'm not a fan of dryers for 2 reasons. 1) ruin clothes (IMO) 2) power consumption, so doing the usual British thing of transforming a room into your clothes dryer works well. It's nice now that with the dehumidifier you can knock it on the head in 1 day instead of 3!

How much energy does 1 day of dehumidifier use vs 2 hours of drier?

Just curious. Been meaning to get a dehumidifier.

From what I've read it uses very little... let's see what the power bill says when it comes ;)

I had ducted r/c air conditioning installed in our last ADL house. I had a roof Whirly and decent insulation put in. we've moved to MEL into a rental weatherboard house with an underpowered split system and no/lousy insulation. I don't enjoy summer anymore.

I've spent countless hrs looking at the usual real estate websites for a place to buy and I'm well and truely over it!

Is it OK to pass wind noisily while standing at the urinal in the Mens latrine or should one enter a cubicle where no-one can see you?

That could depend on whether you know them or not.

That seems a bit unfair. There's lots of stuff posted here that has varying interest. Not that I'm into golf though. Spoils a good walk. Although moggies was also spun off now I think about it.
Well moggies became on topic so it had no place in this thread.

Much more talk about golf and that will be on topic and need to leave also :!:

Might be safer in the cubicle ... just in case.

That assumes that you know it is coming.

Formula 1 has its own thread. Allows discussion about it without interruption between like minded members.

I played golf in Bellingen once at it was way hotter than that with high humidity. Not fun but I did it.

I played golf at Fox Hills in what must have been 42-43 degree heat with the soot from the nearby bushfires in Emu Plains falling and covering the golf course.

Heat unless you are in danger is only a state of mind. I refuse to play golf in freezing conditions.

Glad to know SWMBO's grandfather is in hospital because of a state of mind and not severe dehydration from heat.

We've gone from heat wave to major wind issues in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide. Gum tree blocking four lanes Greenhill Road just off our street. Trees down everywhere here and fire brigades constantly up and down our (tiny) street. And of course, no power for 8 hours now. Makes for stinky work.

You could say the same thing about any discussion.

The discussion on heat could have its own thread as well as it is too on-topic for this thread but I wouldn't think a separate thread is a good idea.

I like it when people are posting in this thread even when I don't like the topic.
