The totally off-topic thread

I know. You could amalgamate all those threads and call it the "off topic thread". Oh wait.....

The whole point of this thread was off topic discussion.

The feline thread was because the posts got out if control.

I realize that. Was making light of how air-con has dominated the talk for a few weeks.

That being said, my new place has air-con. Way better than the dump I moved out of.

Which closed a major arterial road today. No power until 8pm tonight. So over 15 hours.

I would love to understand how people have replaced the use of laptops by using smartphones instead.

I have been without laptop for 2 days and using the smartphone for more than 20-30 minutes at a time is driving me nuts.

I just realised that the Abbott in Government thread has been shut down, with over 2000 posts. :(

I would have posted this article (Liberal MP Sharman Stone accuses Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Treasurer Joe Hockey of lying over SPC) on that thread:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-02-04/nrn-lies-on-spc/5236284

If anyone thinks that this is an ABC beat-up, then have a listen to the (Liberal MP Sharman Stone) audio on that link.

Speaking to the SA Power networks guy he said that Hazelwood Park was a write off with fallen gum trees. The main area of damage appears to be west of Glynburn Road, and a corridor about a kilometre wide down to Portrush Road, so I think this time Waterfall Gully may have debris but not too much significant damage. And you are stuck with the same blackout as we are now to 11pm:eek:

Is there, or should there be, an air-con thread?

FWIW our Daikin RQ200/FDYQN200 is ducted to 13 outlets and does a great job of cooling or heating, bringing the whole house inside temp to 21/22 in summer or 23/24 in winter. Outdoor temps in CBR range between -10 and +40.

I just realised that the Abbott in Government thread has been shut down, :(

That stopped being a discussion thread well before it was closed. Another thread was started the other day and that deteriorated after the first couple of posts and was also closed.

OK. Thanks,

The Abbott in Government thread was well supported with all those posts. I didn't follow it daily, maybe once a week or so, just to see what was happening.

Now going to be without power for 28 hours. Not going to be fixed until 9 am tomorrow. Going to be 36 tomorrow. Making an insurance claim as things are already warming in the fridge and will be chucked out.
