Pushka have you considered an outdoor misting system to cool things down? I received a relayed message where the temperature dropped 7 degrees Celsius on a property one hour north of Adelaide in post code 5401. They had the verandah temperature drop from 31 to 24 and installed it after a 50 degree day and a 45 degree day.
You could get set for less than a hundred dollars.

And $300 will get you a gen set, to keep the fridge and freezer working, power some lights and run the flat screen so you can watch the cricket!

Good thinking Roger as long as none of the money comes out of the travel money account.
i did start wondering if the mist system would cut the temperature proportionately but my learning of physics finished in 1966 so I don't know if the heat cut would be 10 or 20 degrees C on those very hot days.

And I didn't even page PF to the white courtesy phone...

Funny & semi related to mentioning someone...

I had no phone service (as expected) on my cruise. Was a little surprised to find T Mobile (prepaid SIM) roaming in Movistar on arrival into Mexico.

I knew I was close to Miami on the way back when I had 4G service again. So I checked in on FB/Twitter & then decided to search FB for a certain Canadian lady I met on the cruise. I started typing her name (I got as far as typing Kr) when said Canadian lady rocks up from behind.

So I says "Seeing as though you're here & I was looking for you on FB, you might as well add yourself now" and she did. Thanks, K! :)

I reckon my travel a/c could stand $3-400 without suffering too much.

Incidentally my formal physics study finished in 1965, but its surprising how much you can remember at times. I have more difficulty remembering which wines I drank last week!

Agggh, this made my head hurt by the end...at least I finished without too many "I don't knows"

...

I got 160. Big deal. I think my aptitude is not the best, even though the number sequence ones were a pushover.

I was just looking at my Westpac credit card statement where if I chose to make the minimum payment the balance would be NIL just before my 192nd birthday. Very exciting way to stay indebted.

Well good news. I received a text saying power back on. Came home from work to have shower and check frozen stuff.

Yep. Powers on. Turn on tap. No water. Walked around the street and the road has caved in. We now have a mains water burst. No water for several hours.

I feel like JohnK and his golf clubs. Actually I feel like swinging a golf club or three right now.

Oh Pushka, goes from the sublime to the ridiculous for you :o :(. Hang in there, it will get better...otherwise you can join JohnK swinging a (golf) club to relieve the anxiety and frustrations.

New glass door unobtainable, rang insurance co and informed them, they talked about a replacement oven and casually dropped the $500 XS into the conversation. Didn't continue with claim and found a secondhand oven with same door on ebay for $100.

Crazy - at least that is a good result (of sorts).

Looks like there was a significant loss of water before it was turned off :o

Best wishes for tomorrow Pushka - what could possibly happen    (the cynic in me would say "go wrong")

Let me guess... it then went on to say that if you chose to pay a bit more, not only would you pay it off a lot sooner, but you would end up paying a total amount of interest that was much less, amounting to savings tantamount to a good portion of your final estate?

The balance must be very impressive, as must the interest charges, if you only paid the minimum amount.

It is best to pay all of the cards to zero once a month and not a day or two after the due date.

On the broken water pipe there will need to be quite a bit of flushing to get the dirt cleared out of the water supply.
The water may taste a bit secondhand.

No power still. 25 hours later. 34 temp for today. Sponging showers off relatives. I'm over it.

Just received a text. Power not back on until 4pm today. Which means it will be later than that as it's normally only refreshed in 3 hour batches.

When I first read this I thought it said "sponge showers from relatives" and thought you must have a really close family :-)

In today's episode of death-wish dog we are in Melbourne's CBD where a pedestrian walked out in front of a fire truck which was clearly responding to an incident (with both sirens and lights). I am speechless...

Full respect to the driving skills of the MFB fire-fighter who was travelling at a safe speed and could stop well short of the stupid pedestrian, complete with a heavy ring of the engine's horn.
