I just realised why I am having so many issues with this laptop.

I somehow istalled Software Updater on 26/10/2013 when I was trying to get this laptop going and I did not have any Antivirus software at the time. It recommends to install certain software even if not on the laptop. When it recommends an install and you have somehow clicked on it then you cannot monitor the install and you also cannot easily uninstall what it has installed.

This program was the one that recommended I install Ares 2.2.7 and today it recommended I install Avast! antivirus.

At least it comes with an uninstall.
 
Thanks PF... working FIFO myself it was sad to see the marked deterioration each time I saw him. He lasted an amazing 7 years from diagnosis when the average is ~3 years.
 
After 3 months on long service leave at my place of employment, I went back to work last night. Now I have 2 rostered days off before my next shift on late Tuesday afternoon. But the good thing is that I'm not working next Saturday night so I'm off to an ice hockey game.

Saw a doco a few years back on a sufferer, what a horrible illness to have.
I note that former AFL footballer/coach Neale Daniher has been diagnosed with same.
Gotta say, whenever I feel sorry for myself with my own (not major in the scheme of things) issues I only need to look at cases like these to get some perspective. My condolences to you and your friend's family.
