Well I just got back from a personal training session and can say I am absolutely POOPED! :(:(:(

I'm off to Singapore over Easter.

Bought a V class fare for around $1300 a few weeks ago, now with the PE sale a PE return would be just over $2000. Change fee for upgrading my ticket to a higher class is $50.

Hmmm. PE would only 'cost' ~$750. Can't really justify it, but keep looking at it wondering if I should...

On the way home from work I walked down 432 steps and walked up 506 steps. According to my calculations I burned ~300 calories.

I just walked 4kms on the treadmill and it calculated I burnt only 400 calories! Goodness - weight loss is one hard thing to do :(

As a sucker for eating food and lots of it, weight loss is slow and arduous but one's gotta keep at it esp. when I'm a few inches to wide and many inches too short ;)

Btw I am still trying to fit into my brand new skinny jeans still with labels which I bought back in 2007 from Macy's

18 holes of golf walked at least 3 times per month works wonders ... it takes at least 3 months for the difference to be measurably significant, but it is personally discernible within 1½ months.

I walk 18 holes of golf on average 6 times a month and it does nothing for my weight. In fact I have been doing that for the majority of my life and I have to fight hard to keep the weight off.

A couple of weeks ago I played, and walked, 7 games of golf in 8 days and there was no noticeable weight loss. Life is not meant to be easy for some people....

You'd be surprised (well, shouldn't be really) that booze accounts for *a lot* of weight gain .... even 2-3 beers a week will cancel out all the good work you've done.

So how fast does it take to put it back on. :?:

So if I don't drink alcohol (beer); that might help but then I think if you drink coke instead of the beer then there is probably no gain at all.

Is $1090 a good price to go to Singapore. I think its 80 SCs and 9,800 miles.
or should I fly
BNE-CBR-MEL-OOL for a day trip. DJ(E190)-TT(A320)-JQ(A321)(try out something new)
or should I fly

or should I just do all 3. :!:

I don't know about you guys... but the only I drink when it's not booze, is water!

And... I'd do neither, I thought money wasn't in huge supply since you bought the house?

But if you can afford it why not do all 3 ;)

Much, much, much faster than it takes to work it off.

I'm with Flashware on this one - only water for me. Sociably, (plain) sparkling water (or soda water) with lemon or lime.

After not drinking soft drinks for a while, it gets a bit uncomfortable drinking them again, especially when I feel my teeth after taking a swig.

For SC run purposes, $1090 for 80 SCs isn't worth it. MR purposes - still not crash hot. Going to SIN for that much on QF - reasonable compared to usual.

I wouldn't touch TT with a fifty foot pole, but that's just me. I do want to try a DJ E-jet one day, however.

BNE-SYD-MEL-BNE with lounging....you just want the free beer, don't you? :p

How? If we look at it purely on calories then 3 Pure Blondes are 315 calories and the exercise I did this evening burned ~300 calories. By the way I am not justifying drinking beer just comparing the calorie intake and burn rate.

How would drinking 2-3 Pure Blondes a a week spoil 2 games of golf which in theory burn ~300 calories/hour so 8 hours of golf should burn ~2,400 calories which is supposed to be the equivalent of ~300gms of body weight? But maybe there are much more serious factors involved like metabolism, stress levels etc....

I believe the alcohol has some additional effects that isn't quantified on the calorie count. Apart from all the other effects that alcohol has on the body.

I'm off to the US next week.. first time.

What's the deal with baggage? Just one of those 'tsa compliant' locks?

I should have said from a prior sedentary lifestyle.

Enjoy your virgin USA trip ;) just use TSA compliant locks and you should be fine, and cable ties any remaining unused compartments.

Forget the TSA locks; cable ties are cheaper to replace when they get cut.

Last night, after ensuring the kids had finished all their dinner on their plates, we all sat down and watched "The Biggest Loser" while eating ice cream . And it didn't even feel ironic at the time :p.

Is it just me or does that Australia's Greatest Cities graphic on the Qantas homepage say 'Flights from Adelaide' regardless of what city it is displaying. Or is Adelaide really a $139 flight from Adelaide?

Has anyone installed Internet Explorer 8? Is it worth installing or one to avoid?

Don't do it!

I tried it a couple of weeks ago and loads of sits dont work and it is quite clunky.

I have since uninstalled it and gone back to IE7
