Don't do it!

I tried it a couple of weeks ago and loads of sits dont work and it is quite clunky.
So I am doomed with Internet Explorer 8, Windows Vista Business and 3 Mobile broadband....

Seems so; XP with FireFox works fine for me - I'd still be using Win98 SP2 if it wasn't for the lack of contemporary device drivers ...

I think the biggest issue of the three products mentioned is 3 Mobile broadband. It is absolutely horrible. I used a number of wireless broadband providers in country Victoria a few weeks ago and had no issues viewing any websites or posting on AFF.

Back to 3 mobile broadband since I returned and the Qantas website does not load properly and I constantly have to wait for AFF to load with each thread I view or each post I make. I have to reset the 3 mobile broadband USB modem countless times each night. Very frustrating....

I believe the alcohol has some additional effects that isn't quantified on the calorie count. Apart from all the other effects that alcohol has on the body.

Ethanol ("alcohol") inhibits the conversion of fat into free fatty acids (FFAs) which in the resting state muscles tend to use as a source of ATP. This is not a good thing when you're trying to lose weight by mobilising the fat stores.

Indeed!

I gues you'd already have those 10K AFF posts by now instead of being 38 shy if not for 3-Mobile ...

No. I would only need to spend half the time on AFF and use the rest of the time to research and prepare for my RTW trip in August/September. :p

Keeping in mind that there's also calories, sugars, etc. from all the other foods you're eating...... unless you're only drinking beer, eating nothing, and playing golf?

I just walked 4kms on the treadmill and it calculated I burnt only 400 calories! Goodness - weight loss is one hard thing to do :(

Use a cross trainer instead. They burn up to 3 times as much as a normal treadmill.

According to the stats on the machine that may be the case.... but I find that the treadmill seems to work you harder e.g. I always feel more wrecked after running on the treadmill.

IMHO the treadmill is better in terms of building up overall fitness and stamina.

Not quite. I wish I knew what was wrong but it is a number of factors including insulin resistance.

My calorie controlled diet is working slowly and I am trying to watch what I eat, light exercise daily and also having alcohol free days more often. No alcohol Monday-Thursday this week. Need to get down below 100kgs asap as I do not feel well. When I was 93kgs a few years ago I felt great but I did not stay there very long....

I find a low-carb diet works wonders. If you do have any carbs, try to keep them to breakfast/lunch with dinner being something like lean meat and veggies/salad. Obviously with the exercise then occuring some time after lunch, as well as in the morning too if you have the time.

And just when I thought alcohol making me sleepy resulting in less fat being burnt

I think low carb is good. You wouldn't know it but I dropped 15kg in 6 months a few years back (all back on now ), and that was through low carbs (cut out spuds, rice, pasta), low amounts of alcohol, extra exercise, and sensible eating (protein, fibre, veges). It really is as simple as less in, more out - just how you achieve it is the issue.

Actually there are a variety of ways to lose weight. If you listen to all the experts it gets very confusing and one contradicts the other. Carbs are good and don't forget they are the staple diet of many countries around the world.

A few years ago I lost 6-7kgs in 6 weeks by cutting out alcohol and eating mainly boiled and steamed foods including just boiled rice or spaghetti or noodles. No fried foods at all. I may get back on to that diet instead. But how do you go 6 weeks without alcohol?

More importantly, how do you go 6 weeks on just boiled/steamed foods?
Quite easy I enjoy them.

Maybe I should have included roasted/steamed type of foods. Things like put a shallow pan in the oven with water and then some lamb chops in a grill and place above the shallow pan and you get wonderful roasted/steamed lamb chops. Substitute fish for lamb chops and it is just as nice.

Of course, now I think of it, there's the often wonderful Pla Nueng Prik Ma Now ...

Which reminds me to take a trip to Geylang again while I'm in SIN to see if I can try the lamb chops at the place you recommended :)
Before you go you just need to remember that this is street food type quality but in my opinion it tastes delicious. It is not easy, or cheap, in SE Asia to get lamb chops.

Did I post the address and the name of the stall?
