Check out these little spiders. Found around Perth Western Australian. Apparently the well decorated males do a little groovy dance to try to entice the females in and if the dance is not up to scratch then they end up being lunch instead!!

Looks like this male was snubbed - right at the end. At least he wasn't dinner.

The female of the species is more deadly than the male.

Looks like that spider has spent too many years watching people do The Robot at 1970's discos...

I've always wondered why we don't see it in Australia over summer (rather than "just" Elvis and his brothers.....)??

Different concept of operations in Australia. We have chosen to go for more nimble aircraft that can pinpoint their drops and we also have a lot less large jet accessible air strips than our US friends.

shellthom, congratulations on the engagement - for sure, crack on! When my wife suffered a stroke 2 months before our wedding, having the wedding to focus on was the best thing for her recovery! Hope all goes well with your mother.

My fingers are crossed, but London has had decent showers over the last few days. Is expected to turn into a heatwave by end of Month. Hopefully you find sunshine.

Please let me know what you think of the experience. As a local, I baulk at the price they want to charge (many locals are the same, as a form of protest), but will end up there eventually I am sure.

Meh ... the view from Duck & Waffle is fine enough and you even get reasonably priced food ... and it's open 24 hours/day

It is handy to remind me what room I am in.

Interesting you're all happy to carry the key wallet around with your key card...... I find it a security risk, if it's ever lost then someone knows exactly where to go ....

A few of us having health issues lately. Speedy recovery to all.

Obviously my liver issues are not that serious as my Hepatology appointment was moved 5 weeks. And that time has arrived already with the appointment next Tuesday. Not looking forward to it but I guess best to know if there is something wrong and early detection may help.

After 72 months of tribulation, anguish and toil, and about 3 further months of impatient agony, three extra suffixing letters or two extra prefixing letters are only about 2-3 weeks away. :o

Xanax can cause liver issues in some people.

Congratulations, let the count down begin

congrats Anat0l!

yes, I told the +1 that I wanted the engagement party (because I want one) to be before my mum starts getting super ill, so hopefully next week we will get the chemo plan and can work around our trip and not waiting too long into that treatment.

I also wish speedy recovery and good like to those having their own surgeries/results/tests :)

Again, thank you all for the support you have offered to us.
I don't keep it in. I put myself as the dot on this: How not to say the wrong thing - Los Angeles Times
well as far as me and my partner and the people we see.
My partner told me I can't be the centre because my mum is and I said I have my own, he told me that the whole point is it doesn't work like that.

I have these terrible thoughts that his mum is meant to go first she's 15 years older than mine and far less nice, but thats too mean a thought to say to him … its only come up once every week or two but it still is there. Why my mum, theres other people, like your mum, more deser… no thats too mean a thought. Is much how it goes. Then I feel bad.

Not a political comment just an observation but I suppose I'll get slated for it anyway :)

The tax system explained in beer

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this…
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing The fifth would pay $1 The sixth would pay $3 The seventh would pay $7 The eighth would pay $12 The ninth would pay $18 The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20″. Drinks for the ten men would now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men ? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share?
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.
So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by a h higher percentage the poorer he was, to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using, and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay.
And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% saving). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% saving). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% saving). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% saving). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% saving). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% saving).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings.
“I only got a dollar out of the $20 saving,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,”but he got $10!”
“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!” “That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back, when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!”
“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!”
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how our tax system works. The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

There's also the issue of obtaining the water from a nearby water source which is usually easier, quicker & closer in a chopper rather than a fixed wing.

Embarrassing Bodies....probably the same thing. No doubt about it - it's an eye opener!
I don't get it. Too embarrassed to see a doctor about something icky - but you are ok to go on tv where they show your face AND the icky bits???? (I have heard that if you agree to go on the show, the show pays the medical costs involved in fixing the prob. Personally there would not be enough money in the world to make me do it.....

Agreed there is no way I would ever be on that show !!
