So, who is going to race out and upgrade to the iPhone 6 when it is released?

I'm free contract wise come the 22nd of this month. Currently have a Samsung G3 and can't wait to drop-kick to one of the kids ... I'll get a 6 if I can walkout with it - otherwise I'll be happy with a 5S. I'm over big screens!

When my plan finishes in March 2015. I am not sure about the big screens, I think the big screen Samsung being used as a phone looks rather, um, unusual.

When we booked the JASA we have just done I timed the BNE connection flight so we could have both lunch and dinner in the Flounge.Usually we are only there for breakfast. The agent asked if he could book an earlier flight.I politely declined.

Interesting article about the higher then usual number of psychopaths in big business.

Carolyn, who has now graduated with First Class Honours, said that her project was triggered when she read about research which showed that while one per cent of the population were categorised as psychopaths, the figure rose to three per cent in the case of business managers.
“I thought that intelligence could be an explanation for this, and it could be a problem if there are increased numbers of psychopaths at a high level in business. The figure could be more than three per cent, because if people are aware they are psychopathic they can also lie – they are quite manipulative and lack empathy. This could have a detrimental effect on our everyday lives,” said Carolyn, who added that some researchers have suggested that episodes such as the Wall Street Crash could be blamed on the numbers of psychopaths among decision makers.

Well that was a bit silly. But I just found out that WTB isn't loaded into the QF gift voucher system.

Were you the Vice Captain at school :?:

I was a house captain / prefect in primary school. I am actually responsible for starting the student newspaper which was a good lesson in publishing plagiarised content, and killing trees.

At grammar school (secondary school) it was a little more complicated. My school had an extensive process to be even considered as a prefect. You had to attend numerous workshops and collective brainwashing sessions outside of school hours, and then if you "passed" that step, you were eligible to nominate yourself for the [-]blind ballot[/-] popularity contest with other students. Each house master and the principal had veto rights to deny any candidate they didn't think was suitable.

Needless to say, I saw various forms of youthful experimentation and rebellion as a far more important life step than putting myself through this process... :p

More non-flying ranting.

I simply cant help but responding to Gen Y whining.

Yesterday I sent an email to colleagues asking for a bit of help. I was waiting for an appointment and as I had a busy day, sent it at 6.50 am. Now I sent it to company accounts, and staff have the right to turn off their phones and iPads out of hours.

Anyway a 20 something staff member asked me not send emails out of hours as they can disturb him (somebody told me later that it woke his girlfriend). My immediate response was to tell him put his phone in another room if he didn't want to be disturbed. He responded that he wasn't being unreasonable. I said he was and not to tell me when I can work.

He then copied our exchange to all staff, no doubt to try to make me look bad. It largely backfired on him, but with a couple of staff on his side.

Anyway, before 8am this morning one of our staff asked if someone could do some work for her on Friday. I immediately responded to say I could, only to be told that "Mr Don't Disturb Me" got in early.

I've been stewing on this for a while, but just sent him an email saying that I was most upset (sarcastically) about him trumping me before work hours. And then telling him to get a grip and not whinging over trivia. This guy will not give up I believe. I'll fill you in when Chapter 2 eventuates.

Blinky, don't fall to their level. An email battle can go bad even when you've done nothing wrong.

Clearly this guy couldn't cope if your work involved overseas travel as emails will almost certainly be sent at a time that might wake the girlfriend.

He's obviously "pulling" his work emails. Maybe show him how to stop that in his phone settings. It won't effect his personal account.

As a 20 something with a phone that does go off with emails at all hours (which doesn't wake me) that will occasionally wake the gf. It's pretty easy to put it on vibrate overnight so nobody is bothered and I can still use it as my alarm clock. So I'm with you. If he doesn't want to be disturbed by his phone, he should turn it off.
