I can't remember ever jumping onto any scales at the airport. But my own bathroom scales do have the same calibration issue.

Best I not jump on airport scales. They might spit out a tax invoice for excess baggage :)

Wow, everyone's scales seems to be accurate within a few kilos. Mine are at least 10-15 out......

I have noticed that hotel bathroom scales are never accurate. They always add about 3kg to the weight that know I should be.
I only believe scales that give a number less than I think it should be!:p

Qf a380 f

Did QF31 SYD-SIN on A380 F yesterday. That marks the following milestones:
  • First better-than-economy international flight on QF (I've done JQ *C and QF TT J before)
  • First F experience
  • First A380 experience
A full recount (a very full one, for those of you that know my writings here) will be given in a trip report later, but some brief notes:
  • First impressions portrays as very subdued but classy, cf. SQ suites with their usual melange of static fittings and EK suites with their tacky opulence.
  • Leg room is a bit limited (OK for me who is not too tall) when the seat is in the initial position, but absolutely plenty of room when the seat is in the "in-flight" position.
  • My touchscreen panel control was busted (no response) so can't review that one.
  • Meal service was initially slow, but once the meals started being served in earnest, courses were offered rather quickly.
  • I had the tasting menu - great food on offer.
  • Lie flat soft bed was excellent - best bed ever in the sky, almost better than my bed at home
I guess I should also add another "first"...
  • First throw-up experience due to excessive alcohol consumption :( (at least I think so - it could have been lack of sleep + overeating...). The crew were very supportive and I didn't have a hangover the next morning, but I did resign myself for about 2 hrs or so on the flight, missing out on sampling the inflight self-serve bars.

Exciting news!

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well this weekend. :)

I just bought my first home!! :D Well, at least I've signed the contract of sale and paid the deposit.

It's off the plan however and I do not actually move in till mid to late 2011 (and i have to hope the developer doesn't get consumed by the GFC!).

Some computer generated images of the new place here:
lilli Apartments - South Yarra - by Fridcorp

I gunned for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom corner unit on the 10th floor with views of both Melbourne CBD to the north and other stuff to the west. Went for the dark colour scheme (looked rather W!). Located near great shops and all my favourite clubs in the Chapel St area in South Yarra. Can't wait to move out of the People's Republic Of Brunswick and back down south across the river, ie civilisation!

AFF MEL DO 2011 to celebrate? It comes with a free bbq port thingo on the terrace! :D

This might be SO off topic for even the totally off topic thread but I just had to share my excitement! :D

The indicative photos look pretty swish, I can see what attracted you to it :D

I sympathise entirely - inflight hangovers are awful. Congrats on the milestones. I look forward to the TR! :D

I've never done the QF A380 in F - here's hoping I can find P availability on it one day. ;)

Perhaps anat0l can attend and perform the inaugural throw-up! :p

Seriously, well done QF009, looks great, though I hope they've torn down the monstrosity that is/was the ANZ datacentre on Toorak Rd...I worked there for years and it is seriously ugly (and oh so close to where you are).

And anat0l, thanks for your frankness (and your report)...I can't recall heaving on a plane, but there have been at least one or two (;)) off plane instances. The A380 sounds pretty good, and I certainly would like to check it out in F.

Congratulations QF009 for achieving the great Australian (American?) dream! Certainly a bit of a white elephant these days given the current GFC, but again here's hoping that your builder et al. doesn't get consumed in the process.......

In other news, whilst in the SIN QF/BA FL, have just finished processing all of my unread GMail messages, digesting some 70-80 messages within a couple of hours. If I was savvy enough I should have probably posted something for each of them, but ah well.........

Congrats QF009.Give us plenty of warning and we will all turn/throw up for the house warming.Lucky its got a balcony!:p

Congrats QF009 on the property purchase! Looking forward to the house warming - W Living Room style - partay! ;)

I've got money that I'll be a few kilos heavier once I get back to BNE. :(
I don't know about you anat0l, but my carry on was certainly heavier when I left CNS yesterday (3 bottles heavier) and they are now lying in repose awaiting you to pick them up
