Mum had her heart attack and stroke around 5am. She has a Doctors Alert pendant and she pressed it to alert the service. She pays $25 a month. When she presses it someone answers via a device attached to the land line. They talk to her and knew she couldn't speak but kept reassuring her an ambulance had been called. They stay on the line until it arrives.
She has a key number device attached to her front door which is registered. They punch in the numbers to retrieve her key.
She was in hospital within about 40 minutes and was always in contact with someone once she'd pressed that pendant.
She used to have one of the large digit mobiles but she'd either forget to charge it or leave it at home. They just aren't attached to their mobiles the way us young things are.
