Mum had her heart attack and stroke around 5am. She has a Doctors Alert pendant and she pressed it to alert the service. She pays $25 a month. When she presses it someone answers via a device attached to the land line. They talk to her and knew she couldn't speak but kept reassuring her an ambulance had been called. They stay on the line until it arrives.

She has a key number device attached to her front door which is registered. They punch in the numbers to retrieve her key.

She was in hospital within about 40 minutes and was always in contact with someone once she'd pressed that pendant.

She used to have one of the large digit mobiles but she'd either forget to charge it or leave it at home. They just aren't attached to their mobiles the way us young things are.

We need to buy a simple mobile phone for our super olds. They are 91 and 88 and need a phone for about 10 possible calls that would get them an ambulance ,a daughter , a doctor and things like this.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

This is the brand we acquired for my Husband's father after his last major surgery (he is 87 years young). Binatone Global – Product Categories – Senior Mobile Phone

He has a slide one we purchased it from Aldi about 2 years ago and it works very well and is easy to use, we have put the #'s he needs in and when he flips it open the numbers are there and he just has to push the button up or down to the number he wants to ring and then pres call. It is duel band.

Thanks everyone for the tips on phones for the olds. Mrscove has some more ideas now for her parents.
Naturally it may get difficult for them to remember to charge this phone and then have it with them.
These two are fiends when it comes to footy tipping so their brains work too well for the other tipsters.

Congratulations to the Western Sydney Wanderers-Asian club football Champions.

There was a house near Table Cape outside Wynyard Tasmania that I would like to stay at.unfortunately haven't been invited back for 2 years.

Interesting experience today. Driving to work this morning and 200m from my house my transmission failed. Slowly took car back to driveway and taxi to work. When I got back I called NRMA to have it towed. As it was a Sunday I had to go in the tow truck to the garage to lock car. NRMA assured me that they would get me a cab home. Discovered that the only Volvo garage in NTL is in an interesting area at night. After waiting for more than 1/2 hour outside the brothel across the road I thought it best I call and pay for my own taxi as it was getting dark and I might get some offers I wouldn't want

Of course cough happens when Shrek's away travelling. He'd probably say the same about me of course :D

We have a "massage salon" right near our work. We watch ladies relaxing between and clients hot footing after. And it's in quite a nice area of Adelaide.

Sh%t always happens when MrP is away. I'm thinking, MIL diagnosed with recurrence cancer, loved dog with critical illness and obvious decision to be made, and oldest son with encephalitis and trip to ER. That's just for starters.

My transmission pales into insignificance then

Have driven Lexus vehicles for 20 years and never had an issue. Very reliable transport and the car knows not to stop outside any massage parlors nor brothels. It is a pretty clever car.

Maybe you should have waited inside. It might have been safer. I am sure they have good security
You just might have to get the cab to drop you down the road a bit from your place.

You may need the income of the residents of the establishment across the street to pay for a Volvo transmission repair - maybe that's why it's where it is ;):p:mrgreen:.

Well my car wouldn't know what a massage parlour or brothel was so no problems there. ;)
