So just bought a bicycle so I can ride around Foshan here in China.. first thing after grabbing the bike was to buy a jacket.

It's cold when i'm scooting along! Got a few strange looks from the locals.. part of the fun!

Pretty sure students/registrars don't like clear and concise instructions. There's no self learning involved.

Just had them the clothes, say diagnose and cure.

So it would need to be a take home exam. I can see them wringing their hands but not much else. Although you can expect a fair bit of spin from them about why the assignment wasn't completed on time.

Just did a rather menial undertaking in updating most of my loyalty programme accounts with my Swiss contact details rather than some old (and now deprecated) Australian details. In the process, I have noticed several examples of technical incompetence:
  • A Submit button which looks like a Submit button, but when "clicked" does absolutely nothing. An inspection of the source code seemed to show there was no "submit button" code included, only the formatting for something to look like a button.
  • Providing a second address line, but when the details are updated, either the second address line overwrites the first address line, or it is completely ignored.
  • Not highlighting fields which are mandatory, even though other mandatory fields are denoted as such correctly. Not to mention why the hell is passport information compulsory information.
  • Change country to Switzerland. The city field - a drop down list - changes from Australian cities to Swiss ones. Fine, but why the hell in the short-ish list of Swiss cities, Lausanne is not one of those included? Now before you go, "because they don't fly there", well if that argument were valid, then the list would at most comprise of 3 cities (Basel, Zurich and Geneva), but there are more than those. If you go, "Who the hell knows what Lausanne is," well figure this: Lausanne is the fourth largest city in Switzerland, has an international name, and considering there are other entries there which are all of smaller cities/towns and less likely to be known internationally (e.g. Neuchatel, Winterthur, Aargau, Morges, etc.) what the hell?? And there isn't an "Other" option, either.
  • Mobile phone fields p*** me off to no end. Many mobile numbers around the world simply have country code followed by a contiguous set of numbers - there is no separation of "area code" and "phone number".
  • A profile is not regarded as "complete" unless US Redress details are entered. What if I've never committed a crime before?

Mobile phone numbers follow the standard rules. Country code, drop the 0, next number is area code, then 8 digits for the phone number.

Holy ****, the storm hitting Brisbane Is more intense than the one 2 weeks ago. Just made it back to my office before the heaviest of it. Storm passed in 20 minutes and only minor flooding:

Got back to my office just as the really heavy stuff hit - was difficult seeing the road (and thankfully no hail). Short, heavy and yet no flooding here. Western suburbs have copped it from what I heard on the radio. Will be down in MEL tomorrow (briefly), so hope the weather is better there.
