Or (on time) departure from Bolivia is in jeopardy as Sue is in bed ill. Currently waiting on the nurse to arrive to give her a shot and an IV drip.
We are meant to be heading to the airport in 90 min. 

138Bs ($A25) for medications and nothing for the nurse visit.

My boss crashed his bike while following the Dakar in Bolivia last January. I found all of his medical costs (including evac by private plane) to be very cheap. Though he decided to come home for the knee operations.

Bullet dodged!

... Back in June I booked MCI-xDTW-LAX first class fare with a scheduled arrival of 7:15pm. I have a separate booking on QF - after this but 3 hours should be enough - right? I chose a DTW connection for the extra 20 SC's

Anyway, schedule changes here and there pushed this out to 8:04pm - still within MCT but getting tight. I looked at my options but it was $200 and fare difference to change.

On researching things I found that with Delta thay have this "same day confirmed flight change" where for $50 one can rebook/reroute between the same origin and destination once OLCI opens as long as there is a spare seat in the cabin on each of the alternate planes (That's with premium cabin bookings - for economy, fare bucket availability rules comes in to play. )

Anyway yesterday afternoon i bit the bullet and rerouted via MSP getting into LAX at 5pm.

I received an email alert a short while ago indicating my original DTW-LAX flight was now estimated to be running 93 minutes two hours late and was not expected to arrive into LAX until ~9:40pm!

What probably helped in this case was the nurse from Karen's (our daughter) Mamma's private practise. Everything was organised for us and we simply went along for the ride. We found out the payment, or lack there of, details after the event. We even bought some medications at 1145 last night at 1Bs per tablet. ie under $2 for a sheet of ten.

In any case we are sitting in the LAN lounge in Lima at the start of our 7 hr stint.

Next flight at 0105.

More details, please? Have a couple of stints there coming up.

I have been to Lima airport twice (November last year), and that's enough for me! Thank God I allowed 3.5 hours transit at Lima for Scl-Lim-Cuz otherwise we may not have made it....we parked at some remote bay, and had to wait ages for a bus....when one finally did arrive, it looked like a mini bus:eek::eek:, and I kid you not, it was the only bus used to ferry a full 767 to the terminal...worse was to follow, after standing in an immigration queue for 1.5 hours, the crowd stated abusing (in Spanish) an official in a jacket and tie who opened up the diplomatic channel for us, and we finally got through immigration. Checking in for the domestic flight to Cusco was hellish til I found the premium checkin line as an OW emerald...we won't be rushing back to Lima airport or the city in a hurry (having now visited Machu Picchu)!!

I agree not a great lounge but at 0800 you could have as much pisco as you liked.Would make the lounge look great but at the risk of missing your flight.;)

Whilst not the best lounge in the world I also have to say it's far from the worst.
Good array of food and drinks and friendly staff though it does need to be a bit bigger.
The airport however is 'different'. On arrival we got to our gate on time but could not deplane as another a/c was deplaning. After 5 min without any air we finally got off.

Transfer security needs a mention though as it was friendly but the toughest I have ever seen. I didn't see anyone get through first time and most needed 3 or 4 attempts. At the same time I didn't see any bags get a secondary check.

Not a busy airport and a flight to New York was canceled - to accommodate pax some flights were overbooked more than normal. Waiting near the podium I overheard that my flight was oversold by 13 - 10 minutes before boarding they offered $400 DL vouchers for volunteers who would travel later - there appeared to be no takers. As boarding was about to commence they upped the offer to $1300 - a queue rapidly formed.
I wonder if anyone from Qantas is reading how to handle oversold cabins?

This is the FREE lounge at Samui airport.

MasterP also woke up unwell during the night. Today he has a ferry, flight, 7 hour layover then flight BKK to Manila.

He's perking up now and the huge fans at the lounge working a treat.

And this little guy has just joined us.

Imagine opening up a bag and finding this.

safe trip home Bill

Saw the GP this morning. He sent us straight to A&E and pretty much chided us for not going there sooner. Hopefully the healing will be able to start soon!

Mr Katie was admitted to hospital last night. He's on IV antibiotics. Specialist saw him this morning.

We're hoping he will be discharged on Thursday, but that might be a bit optimistic.

I've told Little Miss she can't sleep in my bed until she's over her jet lag and sleeping past 6am!!

hope all is well for Mrs Straitman. IV fluids are great, as are IV antibiotics!
