The totally off-topic thread

Mr Katie was admitted to hospital last night. He's on IV antibiotics. Specialist saw him this morning.

We're hoping he will be discharged on Thursday, but that might be a bit optimistic.

I've told Little Miss she can't sleep in my bed until she's over her jet lag and sleeping past 6am!!

Good luck Mr Katie. Quick recovery hopefully

Well have just received a travel advisory from Metro trains (Melbourne) that there may be unprotected industrial action tomorrow (Wed 7). Hope it doesn't happen and that it doesn't affect your travel plans.

Off topic, but I think the mods have a thankless job. I guess the job isn't done for the appreciation is it?

Mannej, you'll just have to come and, like the rest of us, grovel at the feet of QF WP next time we have a 'Meet a Mod in PER' gathering :). He laps it up :p.

Is it almost grovel time again in Perth? We could try Subiaco Hotel,Bistro des Artistes or Chez Pierre as easy to get to locations.

Lalla Rookh in the CBD (under the ANZ building) has also been mentioned. I've eaten there a couple of times recently and it's good. IIRC, QF WP was planning to be in PER in January.

"unprotected industrial action" Is that when the strikers go out without wearing condoms?

That's not good.

Have you seen a gastroenterologist? I have had fatty liver for long time and saw a specialist over 10 years ago. The only advice he gave me was to give the liver a break for 3-4 days straight per week. So I did. Most times no alcohol from Monday-Thursday unless I am on holidays or special occasions.

The liver ultrasound and Fibro scan I did a few months back showed no signs of cirrhosis. In fact there's a good chance fatty liver is gone as well. And as someone who has suffered from high liver function for 20+ years that has been normal as well.

Yes, my friend the gastroenterologist keeps feeding me wine? :p:p

As an aside, there does seem to be some evidence that having semi-regular high toxicity events, inter-dispersed with "breaks" is actually better for the liver than very regular low to medium toxicity events.

Of course very regular high toxicity events are not recommended, and are generally categorised as "alcoholism".

Regarding my situation, I actually don't drink that much, so alcohol reduction won't fix much...

Eeek, just read through the last couple of pages and concerned with reports from blackcat20, penegal. Straitman & Katie. I'll have a red for you :D

What he means, of course, is that he will have a red for each of you ;):p.

I resemble that remark ;)
Shrek and I polished off a Monday night bottle of Coldstream Hills Pinot Noir as its still the holidays (kind of) and to toast best wishes to those recovering :D

Drinking. A favourite AFF passtime.

AFF = Alcoholic Frequent Flyers?

Then I hope your specialist has checked your iron levels to make sure they are not high.

Why would you send me an email with header of Singapore from $238* return?

Shock revelation from aviation expert Geoffrey Thomas: he "never has and never will" fly Air Asia.

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/wa/a/25910363/why-i-will-never-fly-airasia/

I really do cringe when his name/face appears - yet he seems to be an Australia-wide phenomenon.

Is this really the best Journalist/Talking Head we can roll out to discuss matters of Air Transport?

To me, he just comes off as a well-travelled hack, and Claytons revellations such as this only illustrate how his editors love using his melodramatic text as click bait.

*spoiler alert*

It's because he says he's too tall.

I am such a d*ckhead - apparently I have exceeded my Westpac account:

But how lucky am I that I have Westpac looking over my shoulder so I don't suffer any 'suspect account abuse'!

Apparently today is the day to have someone slam into the front of my car then drive off without leaving details. I saw the rear of the vehicle from the side, so no rego and therefore police cant do anything. I'm now up for the cost of the repair which is the last thing I need.

I have to say I think exactly the same as Geoffrey Thomas and it's not because I'm too tall ....
