The totally off-topic thread

I'm not sure red cars are easily seen. My son had a red car and was hit several times when parked.

I just think its general inattention on behalf of drivers. The taxi driver that rear ended me as I was waiting to turn right told me he was actually busy talking to his passenger. The p plater that reversed into me didn't check his mirrors, and laugh I lewnt on the horn, said he thought 'the noise was someone else'. In this case it appears the driver has come down my street quite fast, taken the bend too wide and not been prepared for the fact there was a car parked on either side of the road, and hit thr front of my car. All simple accidents that could have been avoided.

Off to see my repairer this morning, I swear I must be his best customer by now. Then I need to make a call on paying for it or using insurance. Fabulous timing given my recent unemployment.

Sure. But my car has never been hit by a parked car.

Just be careful. IME they will give different quotes depending on whether it's an insurance job or not. There may be difference is quality as a result. But since it appears only your bump has been damaged that shouldn't be a big concern, since it's just replacing a plastic component.

They are a friend, so no issues there. They are also a premium repairer and the preferred repairer for my insurer. This will be the second time they've repaired the front bumper (same side too).

Good that you know them.

My experience was with an approved repairer. Thought I'd try to be nice to an old dear who ran into me and not go through insurance. Result was cheaper price but also a dodgy repair. Anyway, sounds like you're all good.

The quote is not as horrendous as I'd feared, and only $190 more than my excess so safe to say I won't be going through my insurance.

A 'public nuisance' warranted the presence of 10 police officers?

Good to see the crime rate down in Brisbane.

I hope you are enjoying the roll back of fuel prices at the service station of your choice. The alternative view would be that where you now earn less frequent flyer points when buying fuel so you hate price drops.

Yep, for those unleaded folk it's dropped below £1/litre, for us diesel folk though it's still slightly over.

Almost makes me want to have a car in the UK with prices less than double ours.
